Starting to wean off Zoloft

Hey ttam,
I've been lucky enough to have a compounding pharmacy in my area. My insurance doesnt cover it but I don't mind paying for it since I feel it's making my transition easier. The only things I take are Omega 3 fish oil by NOW, A B Complex sometime, and a cal/mag fizz drink when I'm feeling stressed. I decrease 10mg a month. Ive been on it for 10 years and it's effectiveness has probally decreased some also, or I like to think so.
When getting off please don't rush do like scaredy cat said and get a doctors advice. I love my doctor, she works with me which really helps my process.

Im down to 25mg and I dont know if anybody else has felt this but I notice my worrying has increased significantly. Actually I've always kinda worried about stuff but lately its aggravating. I've been worrying obsessively about stuff that most people wouldn't think twice about. Like if im talking to somebody and im worried if they took me the wrong way. It's like my mind almost wants something to worry about. I'm also experiencing a tougher time with this last dosage drop.

I am sorry you are dealing with the intrusive worries! I am sure that this is a temporary effect of your recent drop...but keep up the great work...you are getting there!

Have you tried using thought challenging worksheets? We have some in our Resources that could help counter the worries that are bothering you.

I hope this phases out for you soon...and keep posting so we can keep cheering you on.:)

Its been a very,very hard week. Got down to 5mg for two weeks, but a week ago I got a bad panic attack that I couldn't come out of. SO I had to up my dose back to 12.5mg. I believe the panic attack was a result of over worry and not being able to shut off the racing thoughts. Also im sure the Zoloft helped in those areas but Idk.
I went to a Psychiatrist and she wanted to put me on Lexapro but I told her I didnt want to go through the H E double hockey sticks of getting on another antidepressant right now. She prescribed a nerve pill that I can take if I get too wound up or cant sit my mind still.

Hi there ..after 27 years of anxiety and depression. My hospital taught one very important trick ...when you begin to panic, immediately start concentrated deep breathing. The body is not able to panic when breathing ... It works. No anxiety meds since February.

Quick question, if your meds are working, why do you want off ? I started Zoloft this spring, and actually felt the joy of a beautiful first spring after a total hysterectomy three years ago. No hormones and not able to use hormones bcuz my fat cells would be overrun with cancer. Yup, sticking with my happy pill. Its helps me halfway up, so at least I can wash and dress most days, go outfit a bit in the afternoons. Never been this good. Now its just time to think about work again, but keep a balanced lifestyle in order to stay healthy.

Thanks for the response fibrochik. I've been on it for ten years and felt it wasn't even working anymore. I wasn't having panic attacks but I feel I need to try other ways of battling g this. My body is probally looking for more zoloft.
