Need surgery, Paxil cr

Hi everyone. Just found out I need knee surgery for torn meniscus and knee cyst. I am ok with the surgery but terrified of the anesthesia having a reaction with my Paxil Cr. anyone has surgeries on their medication?

Sorry to hear you have to have surgery. ..but I am sure that all will go well. Are you having laparoscopy? If so, you will not be going under, so you won't need to be concerned.

If you are having a general, some A/D's do require a temporary cessation, but I believe it is just a matter of a day...and I am not sure Paxil is even one of them.

Your doctor will be able to tell you for sure. He/she can speak to the anesthesiologist find out fir sure...no worries!

Sorry to hear about your knee I hope the surgery goes well for you.

I had two surgeries a couple of years ago and here in the UK it is normal to see your surgeon before your operation and they discuss with you your current health. I was on a few medication at the time and some of them were fine and one of them I was not to take on the morning of the operation but took it after the operation. It is there job to make sure everything is safe so you will be in good hands.

I had surgery while I was on Paxil years ago and all was fine. I may have had to skip a day I can't remember; but I am still here : )
