Okay, thanks for telling us a bit more about
your treatment. Sorry the Vistaril was not more helpful to you.:( It can be a good Rx for panic that is non-habit forming...
However, taking your Xanax as prescribed, and only when needed is considered a safe practice...and you are unlikely to become dependent when used in this way.
Have you considered therapy as an option? In my opinion, this is the best long term management choice...either on its own, or used in combination with meds...depending on individual needs.

Have a look specifically to the breathing exercises (for panic) and the Progressive Muscle Relaxation for upper body tension, which could be contributing to your headaches.
