Lymphnode inside jawline

Hi there I have what I believe to be a lymphnode that I can feel on the inside of my jaw about halfway between the back of my jaw and my chin, it seems to be around a Half inch maybe slightly more in diameter, has been this way for a while. It is pretty firm and not too tender. Wondering if this is large or worriesome. I certainly tend I worry. Thanks!

When I was about 10 years old I discovered a 'lump' on my jawline in pretty much the same location as you described. It was a solid mass, and if I wiggled it around, the tissue around it hurt. My jaw was way smaller than yours (since I was only 10), but I would say proportionately the lump would be the same size as yours. I was convinced I had cancer and I made my dad examine it (he is a doctor). He said it was nothing to worry about unless it grew in size or changed in some way. Of course I continued to worry and poke at it. It remained there for years and I eventually stopped worrying about it. Now I am feeling around for it (for the first time in over a quarter of a century) and I can't find it.

Chances are, it's just a "flare up" due to a recent cold or who knows what else. But I'm not a doctor, so I would suggest getting it checked out by your doctor just to be on the safe side.

I echo the advice of going ahead and consulting your doctor about this...

...not because I think it is anything to worry about, but because it will bring you peace of mind...

...and as BC mentioned, could actually help to get to the cause of the inflamation...such as a virus, an allergy, or even a dental issue that needs attention...

Oh good, you have an upcoming appointment.:)

If your doctor thought it was anything to worry about, you would have been given a priority spot, and brought in sooner than next month.

For now, try some of our coping skills in the Resources here (top of the main forum page) if the worries are intrusive or distracting you. The Stress Relieving Exercises, Therapy Worksheets and Meditation Links are all good tools for managing anxiety.

I agree with the above about going to get it checked at your doctors to give you piece of mind.

As far as I know you don't have lymph nodes on your jaw line they are behind your ear and down the middle of your neck and above your collar bone but remember I am not a doctor so speak with yours. It could be a dental issue so maybe make an appointment with your dentists to.
