Pain in my neck/upper back and chest burning; is it all in my head?

Thanks for keeping in touch SC!

I'm on day two of the antibiotics. The one called metronidazole has some strange side effects, so I'm making an appointment with the doctor on Monday if they don't improve. Every time I take it I start to get really energetic, almost hyper and then I feel the symptoms of a panic attack. I am on edge for almost an hour afterwards.

I tried to go grocery shopping on Friday. I started to get nauseous and light headed after about 20 minutes on my feet, but I made it. It was nice to get out of the house . I'm having some friends over tonight to distract me. I find that when I'm around friends that my anxiety is less.

Yes!  Some abx can cause anxiety to increase!

If you are still having this s/e...put a call into your doctor and see if there is an alternative Rx that you can take.

Thanks SC! I called the pharmacy this afternoon and they told me that this abx shouldn't cause anxiety. I have looked it up on the Internet and although it isn't a high reported side effect, I found many others that have had this reaction to it. I didn't have anxiety when I took my dose at noon, so perhaps I was just very anxious yesterday.

I started to feel unwell about two and a half hours ago. My heart began to beat very fast (pulse of 90) and I felt light headed. My fiance thinks I may be having reactive hypoglycemia since I had a snack around 3:30. I wish the anxiety would go away. I tried to get my mind off it by baking, which usually works but I almost cut myself with a knife because I was so light headed. My friends are on their way over. I figure if I continue to feel sick I can ask them to leave early, but I'd like to try to keep plans. I was really looking forward to tonight and put a lot of effort into cleaning and tidying up. I am so exhausted.

Hopefully your friends coming over will act as a good distraction. If you have a high protein snack, with a complex carb it should help to even out y our BGL...think chikcken with whole wheat tortilla or salmon with brown rice...

I hope you feel well enought to enjoy your company!
