I get two types...
The more common one is as you described. A skipped or delayed beat, with a few fast 'catch-up' thumps just after.
Rarely I will have short runs of tachycardia....a few seconds of rapid heartbeat that subsides quickly, and feels like fluttering in my chest.
(gastro issues, overeating and even low blood sugar can all have an effect on this for me, so lifestyle changes do help me keep them under control.)
Neither one is pleasant...but I have learned to use my coping skills, and positive thinking to remind myself that these are benign and manageable.
