I have been awake for hours stuck in panic mode. I can't breathe and my heart won't stop racing. In terrified and seriously considering going to the ER in the morning if this hasn't gotten under control.
I'm trying to be off my Xanax but I need it right now. I'm terrified.

Another point, you have been through this before and come out the other side fine, remember what it feels like when it passes.

I ended up taking half after I posted, wait a couple hours and took another. I'm not sure what was going on last night.
I could barely hold my head up or keep my eyes
open, but as I would pass out, I would suddenly wake up gasping for air and my heart was in the 100's. It was a really rough night.

:( :( :(
Bad days (nights) just happen...there doesn't have to be a reason, necessarily.
I hope you were able to get some sleep and 'reset' today!!
Keep moving forward. A detour can't hold you back...you are stronger than it!
Thoughts and prayers for a peaceful day.

Park,
Totally agree with SC. Sometimes the worst days pop up for no darn reason, and as much as it sucks, you have come out of it before, and you will come out of it again. Think in terms of your whole battle with anxiety, how many bad days have their been? And how many good days followed it ? These things happen. It's happened to me a few times in the past week, especially with sleep. I'd wake up multiple times in the night and have crazy depersonalization episodes, mixed with a racing heart. I've been using my essential oils like crazy and whether it's the placebo effect or they actually work (which I am certain they do) I've been having really peaceful nights. If your doctor says its ok with your little bun cooking in the oven, I would go get an oil diffuser and pick up some basic oils (lavendar, peppermint, eucalyptus) and diffuse them. Especially at night. Then, on Amazon or wherever, order a blend from "Edens Garden" called "Goodnight" and "Anxiety Ease." These. Work. Like. Magic.
You will feel better soon.
Hugs hugs hugs

Thanks, Everyone.
Yesterday was a really bad day. We had to take my dog to the emergency vet because once again he had chewed at one of the tumors on his back leg and he was bleeding all over the house. We've decided that we're not going to do anymore chemo and we're just going to continue with comfort care, which unfortunately for him involves wearing a cone of shame 24/7 unless he's eating, on a walk or right in front of us so we can be sure he's not messing with his tumors.
My son, who is usually an angel, is also going through a phase as most toddlers do and he threw a toy directly at my husband's coffee....coffee on cream rug....new rug is needed.
My husband said I handled everything like a champ all day yesterday and it's no wonder that I melted down at night. I'm praying for a better night tonight.
Blu's, I used to have a diffuser and sadly it didn't help me much! I do still put drops of lavendar oil on my pillow though. I'll make sure to do that tonight!

Really sorry to hear about
your dog, P! :(
Caring for a sick beloved pet is both sad and stressful.
You are both going through a grieving process, and also facing the hard/painful realities of his illness as you see his decline.:(
Prayers for you guys at this time!

This is the part of having a pet that I HATE. I've had this dog for almost 12 years and he's seen me through a lot and I know my husband just loves him too, even though he started as my dog.
I do feel better about
our plan for him though. Chemo was overwhelming and something I said I would never do to a pet, so I think our next steps are something I feel better about
.

Thank you! I'm trying. I was hoping for a good night tonight, but we're transitioning my son from crib to big boy bed and it's not fun tonight even though he rocked it last night.

Have you tried watching a mindful meditation video on youtube during these episodes?
They talk you down from your panic and are very soothing
All my best

Weary, do you know a specific one that actually talks you out of a panicky situation?

In fortunately not much for sleep. I was doing ok, but my dog is having trouble staying in one spot for long at night, so he started walking around at 1am and woke me. I tried to go back to sleep and finally at 3 I took the other half of my Ambien and went back to sleep.
I think I may have to start sleeping with earplugs again.

You have so much going on. It's no wonder you are overwhelmed.
I'm so sorry about
your dog. I know exactly how this feels, and there is no way to get it out of your mind. I know you are making the right decisions for your loved pet.
Sometimes those decisions are not what we want though.
I also remember the sleep transitions with my boys. Some very tough nights.
Thinking of you.

Can you all offer me some advice? I'm torn again about
my dog.
If we continue chemo, we are prolonging the inevitable and just slowing the growth of his tumors, but ultimately there is no cure for his cancer and he will still have to wear the cone for the rest of his life, which I think is so sad.
If we stop chemo, his tumors will likely grow quicker, he's still in the cone, but we may have less time with him. I just don't know what to do.

P,
How well do you know and trust your vet? I think I would have a heart to heart with him/her and get their input.
Have you asked MissGigi her opinion? (do you have her fb/e-mail?) She could maybe give you her advice, as this is her field!
I am so sorry you are going through this. My heart goes out to you during this difficult time.:(
Hugs, thoughts and prayers,

S.C.,
I actually just got off the phone with my vet and I think we've decided to move forward with chemo. She gave me a bunch of ways to think about
the decision and they all point to continuing chemo. I was surprised actually!
I have been bugging MissGigi like crazy, LOL! She refuses to make my decisions for me! 😉
