I was in Portland, Oregon for the past week, celebrating my birthday and spending some good quality time with nature. My girlfriend and I found this gorge, called Oneonta Gorge, that essentially was a low flow creek that you could walk up, with fallen logs and rocks that took you across the creek. It was by far the most breathtaking, beautiful place I've been to in a long time. My soul and mind actually felt at peace for the first time in a long time. My anxiety was a distant memory.
My girlfriend turned to me and shared a story that she heard when she traveled to Machu Picchu a few years back and a Sherpa taught her to meditate. He told her: "There are many ways to meditate, but if you want to take your mind somewhere else remember every exact detail. Touch what's around you, take in the smell, feel the weather, remember the sounds, remember the color, and when you're at your worst, go there." It was a powerful story, and after I heard it I found myself really absorbing everything that was around me. I thought that if I could go to this exact place at the times I'm feeling terrible, then maybe my anxiety would just give it a rest. And it's worked.
I wanted to share this with you guys about
the power of meditation/positive visualization.
Are there any beautiful places you guys have gone to that you wouldn't mind taking a "mental trip" to?
Share if you feel like it!

Great stuff!
Grounding in a beautiful/natural setting is very healing!
The act if simply remembering and mentally visiting that place and state of being is also powerful.
Thanks for sharing!

Physiologists call it a "safe place". It could be a place you have been before or imaginary place. You can "go" there anytime you are anxious or trying to meditate. Meditations are hard for me, because I am so restless. But I am researching a Mindful meditation classes locally - I do better with guided meditations. Hopefully I finds something what works.

Hi Blu
Thanks for sharing I find mediation one of the most effective ways to deal with my anxiety but it does take practice and persistence to master it.
My favourite place in the world is Chamonix in the French Alps I love being in the mountains and love to ski it's the only time I can really feel I am living in the moment and that feels great it makes me smile just talking about
it.
