Hi all,
Thought I'd share something with you all.
As some would know, I've had anxiety for around 18 months now, with two major episodes that sent me spiralling downwards. Both of these events was when I was away from home in different cities for work and I didn't know what was happening to me when the panic hit.
Anyways, I had to go away again for a week to Brisbane which is on the other side of Australia from me. This was causing me a bit of anxiety thinking about
it before I went away but I was determined to give it my best shot.
Turns out, it was the best thing I could've done. I did an hour of meditation when I arrived and I had no anxiety for the whole trip. This is a major breakthrough for me as I've seen this as one of my last obstacles to overcome. Going away holds no fears for me now and I feel better generally all round.
My point I suppose is we can't let anxiety from stopping us doing anything as this feeds the fears we have, we need to challenge ourselves as this is part of the recovery process I think.

A.D.,
A huge congratulations of your breakthrough!! This is fantastic news and we celebrate your progress with you.:)
Yes, exposure therapy does work on the principle of facing one's fears and breaking down the anxiety of a situation by gently and safely being exposed to it. (and realizing the threat is not the reality, but a product of our own worry)
Great job on working through your challenges...and may you continue to move forward in your recovery!
Thanks for sharing and keep us updated.:)

Congrats! Awesome effort with a great result. I've also found that facing my fears can be just what's needed to push through.
