I'm new to this forum but I just need a bit of help. I'm going through a really bad patch with health anxiety lately. I ended up in hospital on the 28th of Feb with chest pain and difficulty breathing. Had d dimer done for clot and ecg all normal. But I'm still having chest pain and still having pain under left breast and around rib and back area. I just can't seem to convince myself I'm ok and my heart is fine and I don't have a clot in lung. I'm at my wits end with all of this thinking I have something sinister going on all the time or that doctor has missed something major.

Hi BB and welcome!
I am sorry to hear of the challenging time you are currently facing. :( There are many of us here who also struggle with health anxiety, so know you are in good company.
What if anything have you tried thus far to treat your anxiety? Therapy and/or medication are the usual options explored for relief/recovery.
Self help is another recommended step...and one that you can take starting anytime!
We have some great self help material in our Resources at the top of the main forum page here. This included links for health anxiety, so be sure to check these out...as well as the stress relieving exercises and meditations. These are really effective if practiced regularly.
Let me know if you need direct links...and I'll be happy to post them for you.:)
Keep talking with us. We understand, care and support is key!

Do you have a history of bad health?
What you are experiencing is very common to many of us we seem to be super aware of our body and its odd feelings, you can find help here and compassion. I hope you have read other posts of our people who have HA it may give you some peace to know that you are not alone.
May we know if you are M/F and some background aprox age,
"Now let your Healing Well begin". Peace

Hi I'm 39 I don't have any health problems bar what I convince myself I have. Have normal blood pressure and normal cholesterol levels. I do smoke though but I don't drink. I'm in the middle of cbt course but don't think it helping. I'm being put on beta blockers for tachycardia which was picked up on holter monitor. Had stress test done a month ago and holter monitor done two weeks ago. I'm just sick of pain and thinking worse case scenario all the time

BB,
Thanks for the extra info...this helps!
The Beta Blocker should help relieve the anxiety for you to some degree...so along with keeping the physical symptoms in line (tachy) you should also feel more relaxed in general
The news that you are going through CBT is great! Have hope! It takes time...
...I actually found that most of my progress happened towards the end of my time in therapy...and even after I had completed my treatment!
Be sure and check out that self help as well...and keep posting. Sharing with others is a healing step as well.:)
Talk soon,
S.C.

Does anyone else get painful palpitations. Really struggling at the moment. I'm tired of being scared all the time.

Yes, i do but there are different kinds of pain, they all are somewhat disconcerting but thats because we react to the pain sharp or dull by pumping out some Adrenalin into our blood stream then the palps start and last for a while, it makes us think something must really be wrong because of the increase in our Heart Rate but its really a reaction to the pain that drives the HR. Actually your system is reacting just like its suppose to, Pain="its scary, Adrenalin response= increase in palps", fear of whats happening to us= more Adrenalin".
Have you ever wondered how your system would react to this pain if you just didnt give a crap? Answer if you werent afraid you might be dying it wouldnt even bother you, I know its easy for me to say but i promise you it works, No i didnt get it right the first time i tried but i did after a while and you will also, BB you are just now putting together your weapons to fight and beat this condition, just keep getting back up and saying, "i'm going to kick you to the curb of life". You will win! Peace

This link illustrates pretty much what Larry posted. :)
It is an anxiety=symptoms=more anxiety=more symptoms cycle!

Hi BB, I also have bad health anxiety which I never had before. I get all sorts of weird sensations with my body and then it just sets off a panic attack. I get sinus tachycardia when I'm stressed and it's very uncomfortable then I shake real bad then it goes away. I also get palps either hard thumps or skips or its beating weird a couple of seconds with no normal rhythm then back to normal. It consumes your life you have to try real hard to get through this and you will cbt will help you and if dr says all is normal then your good. I will say this sorry I have to say it I'm in the medical field you said you smoked if I was you I'd try and quit smoking doesn't help your anxiety it adds to it plus I know you know it's not good but I don't want to lecture you. We are all here if you need us, your not alone with the heart health anxiety
