Hello Britta and welcome!
I am sorry to hear about
the sorrowful trigger that naturally increased your anxiety. Death and loss are certainly things that can make A/P challenging to manage.
To answer your question...yes, I have had panic attacks that linger with symptoms, and are not quick to recover from. I understand what you are going through.
You mention breathing techniques that you have used previously? That is great...keep practicing them...and please see the link below, our Resources, for more great self help material. The more tools you have in your arsenal, the better!
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=9&m=104206As for your Rx...I hope you can come to peace with making a decision on whether or not you decide on your start up. I know this is a difficult step to take.
Are you aslo in therapy now? I ask, because I was in the same place once.
I had a prescript
ion from my doctor...but decided to wait and see how my therapy was going to play out in my recovery before starting it.
I ended up not using my medication...as the therapy was really effective...
...but everyone is different. I will say that it was VERY difficult for the first several weeks. Looking back, I wonder if I should have at least taken my Rx for a time...until I was ready with my therapy and self help skills. I could have saved myself a significant amount of hardship, so I may have done it differently in hindsight. Medication can help to get you to a place where therapy/self help can do their intended functions...since you are more relaxed and
open to the benefits.:)
Ultimately this decision is yours...and I wish you well in making it!
Please know we understand, care....and support is key, so keep posting! :)
