Question about going back to paxil...

Well its saturday night here and I'm again deep in thought. perhaps thats a reason for the crazy anxiety and depression I have but again its something I can't help. I sit and wonder how many times am I going to think I'm dying or how many times is my heart gonna race and how many times am I gonna feel so horrible to the point where I want to break down crying but at the same time I can't for some reason. During the bike ride I felt good not great but good and I knew I had to do it cause I was gonna get a wave of depressed feelings and I dread that. I hate it really and for the first time in years Im thinking maybe paxil is something I need but at the same time I went this long without it how come I need it and if I do try it will it work as well as it did the first time. I guess thats where my concern comes from. Im scared it will not work as well as it did in the past…I guess its the "what if" in me that again comes from my anxiety.

So as I mentioned in other posts I haven't felt like me in a long time and Im really starting to feel like I never will. Maybe I felt this way longer then I even know and I say that cause I was a heavy pot smoker and I quit that almost a year ago so that could have been masking my feelings keeping me numb to some degree.

Anyway my oldest brother is having an engagement party tonight and Im really happy to see family and friends that we all consider family…My future sister and law knows about my anxiety from 10+ years ago cause when Id have an attack Id call her and wed talk and Id go for walks etc. This time around I haven't talked to her about things and I really haven't talked much to anyone in my family about this and its cause I don't want to bother anyone whit this…I dod think tonight Ill sy something to her about how Ive been feeling. can't hurt right.. Well anyway I do ramble and Im sorry but I was on paxil 10+ years ago and as far as I can remember it was good and i helped me…I think if I had some bad side affects Id remember. I was on vacation with buds in fla and thought I didn't need them anymore so I tossed them and that was that. Now fast forward !0-12 years later and the stresses for life and somethings Ive had happen to me Im in a worst situation then 10-12 years back and I thinking about the paxil. should I give it a go again?? has anyone stopped and started again with different results?? Any feed back would be much appreciated

Hi Franki,

I can tell this choice has you very concerned. I know how hard it is to make decisions, as this is something I struggle with as well!

Sometimes though, you simply have to take that leap of faith and try...in order to see if something is right for you or not.

I have heard stories both ways in terms of returning to an Rx. For some, it is a great repeat experience...

...and for others, it was not as successful, but with some trials of others meds...they did find something that worked for them in time.:)

Either way, you will eventually find something that helps you in your management plan,

For now, keep using your coping skills...

...and enjoy the engagement festivities!!

Franki, don't know about paxil i never used anything except xanax and it did what it was supposed to,
but if taking a med and not having any faith in its ability to help you may make it harder to work,
What i am saying is there are many new drugs for panic and anxiety something will work and you will
be ok, just wondering tho what really triggered this latest episode? You went 10-11 years and was ok,

Whats up Larry.. Well the difference could be some life experiences Ive been though. Bad breakup and really I could go on and on but that would be a whole new conversation. But as I sit here in my room and watching basketball while I type I can honestly say I don't feel like myself and Im absolutely depressed. But I still go to work and function pretty normal and if you where to ask anyone of my co workers they'd say I'm a happy guy but the truth is Im really not so much. I wan a get back to where I was. I was speaking to my brother over the phone and he had to go we said I love you to one another and before we hung up he said "are you sure your ok?" I was taken a little back and told him the truth and said well I haven't felt like myself for a while. I said My life was more exciting in the past and now its…well its not. I don't like the way I look…I gained 40 plus pounds I'm super alone and I get the anxiety attacks then the depression sets in and its more scary then anything else.
Maybe I need therapy or meds or both..Maybe and this is what my brother told me I need to make a lifestyle change. I need to eat better and work out and most of all change the way I think cause its not doing me any good at all. Is that possible?? can people change the way they think?.. Well thats my rant for tonight thanks so much for being an ear its truly appreciated.. Your all amazing people.

CBT was developed many years ago by Doctor Abraham Lowe,
he developed a method and used it to create, "Mental health through will training",
literally making your whole system respond to those thoughts that one knows are right and healthy,
in short making one's muscles move, and taking baby steps, look him up on the internet, the idea
works, you are already way ahead of most people. "This concept was developed back before WW11".
