Yes, a tablet or bar can be safely split...(capsules can not)

...or you can water titrate for more gradual and precise discontinuation.

Thanks guys! Yeah I took .25 last night instead of .5 and felt fine I just recently went almost 3 days without them because my doctor didn't give me enough for the month and I felt like I was in hell I didn't realize how physically dependant your body can get on ativan! I'm only on 1mg a day for 6 or 7 months too! So I'm definitely gradually getting off of them I took klonopin for a year and was able to just randomly stop with no issues idk why I can't with ativan I have never upped my dose or taken more than prescribed so idk why my body freaks out and my anxiety when I try to stop taking it.

I take a quarter of Activan ..only when I need to at night when I'm alone...I guess I freak out when I'm alone..my brother came to visit on Friday I didn't even think of enxiety..he just left now at its 22:07 I can hear this devil knocking already...mayb I must just take a sleeping tablet and go to bed. I hate this thing

How is the buspar they prescribed me it to try I haven't yet my anxiety is off the charts right now and I really want off the ativan so I'm doing a slow taper even though I'm only on 1mg I certainly can tell I'm not taking my usual dose

While there is no need to be on medication that does nothing or makes things worse, I can also say that I've been taking Clonazepam 2mg/day for some years now and found it eliminated and panic attacks and has served me well as a mood stabilizer with little or no side effects. Despite the horror stories I hear, I worry much more about antidepressants than the benzo group. The problem with benzo's of course is their addictive properties, which is always a concern.
I would be cautious with tapering. If someone feels fine, it means that they didn't need that bigger dose anyway. Most users, from what I've heard and from my own experience when I tried to taper off once, will find cutting out one-half to be too much. But if you do and it doesn't bother you, it's probably a good sign that the medication isn't doing much for you in the first place.
I'm not a doctor of course and just speculating. And I just wanted to throw my two cents in and say that I think that benzo's like Clonazepam or other anticonvulsants have a reputation worse than they deserve. ANY mind altering medication should be used with caution, and all of us using them would of course like to live drug free.
