cymbalta anyone??

Has anyone tried cymbalta or had any luck with it?? My Dr recommended me trying it and I just was wondering if anyone's had luck with it. My biggest concern with these kinds of medicines is the weight gain but my Dr said cymbalta won't cause weight gain because I gained 50 pounds on lexapro and that also didn't help my anxiety much but I'm really scared to gain weight again since it made me depressed.

I like Cymbalta, good drug. Works for me and not as sedating as Lexapro. I did gain a crap pile of weight while I was on it though, but not because the Cymbalta caused me to magically gain weight, but just cuz anti-depressants in general take away my worry about over-eating.

Some worries, as it turns out, are actually pretty healthy to have.

If you take Cymbalta, and make a conscious effort to eat properly, you'll be golden.

Yeah I mean I'd like to try something since I'm out of control right now and am hoping I can find something that helps better than lexapro did I stayed on lexapro for like 6 years just because I was used to it and comfortable with it. And the weight gain wasn't so much about "omg my looks!" It was impacting my health my knee got bad and would give out my joints were always sore. So I just don't want to go through that again.

I hear ya - 180 to 230. My knees are really angry. Upside is that losing weight is proving to be doable, and I'm down to 212. Hoping to get below 200 this year.

Yeah I got to almost 200 then was like woah enough is enough my normal weight is 130-135 so that was a lot of strain put on me but I got to 155 while still on lexapro after diet and exercise then got stuck there and then went off lexapro and the rest melted off. So I'm sure not all of it was lexapro but it definitely contributed a lot to it. I'll just have to be careful and watch what I eat.

Hi

I have taken Cymbalta in the past and found it did work well on my anxiety and depression and I did not gain much weight.

I did find it a very difficult one to stop.

Hi,

I have the exact same dilemma. My dr gave me Cymbalta and I have not tried yet. I am terrified of the weight gain like it happened with Lexapro and Zoloft. If you do try it, please update your progress. Thank you and good luck.

Hi ladies,

I can say from having friends on different meds. Ive come to the conclusion that SSNRIs are generally less weight gain than SSRIS so don't worry. On Effexor I only gained like 10 pounds and was able to lose it through exercise.

Thank you! Yes I plan on hopefully starting it tomorrow I have a pill phobia that's so severe I won't take anything except for what I've been on forever. I've been talking myself into it all day lol so I think when I pick it up I'm just going to take it and not let myself think about it. My fear is so bad I have a cabinet full of prescriptions that haven't been touched..its awful. I ended up in the hospital with a uti once because I wouldn't take the antibiotics they wouldn't let me leave until I took them lol
