i dont know if loneliness can cause anxiety, but from my experience it sure doesn't help. im sorry for your loss, and im no professional but i could see the loss of your mother being a catalyst for anxiety in many ways especially since it seems you were very close. im glad you have found some coping skills, it took a long time for me to give them a real chance, and sometimes they work better than others, get a big bag of tricks, sometimes what works today wont work tommorow. do not be afraid to be physically alone, but i would highly recommend social interaction. even if its taking a minute at a convenience store to ask the clerk how her day is going, or chatting with a coworker about whats going on in their life. anxiety wants you to feel alone, isolated and misunderstood, but dont believe the lies! You are not alone in the way you are feeling, it is real, and it is hard, be brave and continue to push to get better and you will be amazed at what you are capable of! having close personal friends, and a sense of "belonging" to someone is an issue i've dealt with and it stemmed from insecurities and not trusting in myself, and for me, that wasnt a real expectation to place on my loved ones, our friends and family are here to enrich our lives, but we are resonsible for our own well-being so long as we are capable, and i am happy that you are learning coping skills and seeking help it shows you are motivated to get better regardless!
