For me, the scariest thing about a panic attack is NOT KNOWING WHAT'S HAPPENING. I hadn't had a panic episode in five months. The other night at about 3am I woke up suddenly to heart pounding, dizziness, chills and just weird intense nervous fear.
I thought it could be panic, but HOW CAN YOU BE SURE?? I was frightened that it could have been some other medical emergency occurring.
Finally took a Xanax. It stopped everything. Again, though...not knowing if it is a panic attack versus some other medical issue is what scares me probably most. It is terrible to go through, but if I knew for certain each time that it was just panic, I could know confidently how to deal with it.
Anyone else feel this way??
