Buspar??

Hello everyone ,

Good morning and I hope everyone is doing ok today. I was on Lexapro for 2 years and went through some very bad times with anxiety. After 2 years of Lexapro I felt better! I gained 45 lbs but I did feel better. I weaned off and was ok for about 90 days. Now I'm starting to get it back at lower levels though. Anxiety is there and noticable: I wanted to try Buspar. Heard it was good and heard it sucks. ( just like all meds lol)
So I'm in day 4 and I had increased anxiety last night . Also feel real chill like Kinda of out of it . Distant maybe. Just wanted to here some feedback on Buspar. Hopefully positive ones ...

there is no anxiety at startup. it does take a few days to get into your system tho. i have used it for years and love it. like scat says its not very effective for severe anxiety but is perfect for light cases.it keeps me from needing stronger meds and i am glad i discovered it. its also non addicting. thi s med seems to be hit or miss for some but is very effective for me

I am also taking 10 mg. of Buspar a day for 8 months now. I dropped down from 20.
How did the 20 make you feel? I have both anxiety and depression.
I had less side effects with Buspar than I did with SSRI's, but I don't think it is
as easy to come off of it as they say, at least not for me. When I tried to, the
anxiety came back full force. It does make me feel "out of it" at times, but I still
have anxiety especially at 10 mgs.

My rheumetologist said I could take Nortriptyline for muscle pain along with Buspar
so I'm now taking 10 mgs. It is also a good drug for depression. It hasn't kicked in
yet, but at least I'm not having side effects except for drowsiness first few days.
I've been on it for a week and hoping it will help the anxiety also.

It seems to be trial and error to find the right dosage and right medication.

I'm right behind you guys I still have the script have not filled it yet dr wants me to start 7.5mg twice a day. I'm very sensitive to meds so I might do once a day I guess I don't know I'm still scared to try it. I'm hoping it will help me I have panic attacks but not all the time. Good luck please keep us posted id love to hear the outcome and how you are feeling on it.

I just went up to 15 mgs. and it works better than 10. I'm wondering if anyone else
finds that their blood pressure is lower when they take Buspar. On another forum
several members said that it lowered their blood pressure too much. I take
medication for BP, and notice that it does make it lower but on low dose like 10 or
15 Mgs. it's fine, around 105 -115/63-70 and that's okay. I asked my doctor
and she said it's because I'm more relaxed but I have to monitor my BP every day.
I just thought I'd mention it because you have to be careful if you are on BP
medication, and even my doctor didn't know that could be a side effect. Shes a GP.

It's also typical of many antidepressants as I've been on a number of AD's in the past.

Another thing is that many doctors in my area have stopped prescribing Benzo's so
I had to go on Buspar. It takes a couple of months to be fully effective, but at
the right dose it helps a lot.

Maybe you could try 15 mgs and see how that works.
