Sad Day for Our Family

Hello family,

We have heavy hearts at our house currently. We lost our dear kitty today.

This afternoon I went out to work in the garden and passed Molly...who appeared to be sleeping in the sun. I called out 'hello' to her, and she did not respond.

I thought, 'Hmmmmm, that's odd'...as she usually voices a meow, or looks up...so I touched her head...and ...:/

I picked her up and put her in a box. Of course my husband is out of town...

He comes home tonight...so we'll bury her tomorrow.:'(

She was 14 yrs old...and had already gone through several of her 9 lives...quite the scrapper!

I have compartmentalized this for now. I had to deliver the news to the hubs, both daughters...and then go teach classes.

I am too tired to cry it out now...

I am comforted that she seemed to go peacefully...and certainly quickly. It was a shock, but I am glad she didn't suffer.

Thanks for letting me get it out. It helps to talk about it.:/

Oh SC, I'm so, so sorry. I have 3 kitties, so I know the love we have for them. I'm so glad she went peacefully. Healing and strength to you and your family! <3

Sorry Rach, I have always been a dog man, but had a stray cat adopt me this year, he's jet black with
green eyes, poor guys ears are notched from fighting.

I'm sure Molly had a wonderful life with such a loving family as caretakers.

So sorry SC. It's always so sad to lose a cherished family pet. These past few years I've lost all of the pets we started our family with as time had marched on. They'll live in our hearts forever.
We bury them in the yard and plant a tree over them. We hang a collar or other special memento on a branch so the tree will grow around it.

Thank you all so much...it means a lot to me to read these messages from your heart.

Today will be hard saying a final goodbye (we will bury her after I get home from classes) but your support has/will help.

(love your tree idea WRAS...we already have a tree picked out for her to rest under)

so sorry here also -know what it means to loose a kitty. i have 5 myself . she wasnt sick? just went suddenly ? how odd

Thanks friends. I really appreciate your kind words and condolences. We have a lot of kitty/animal lovers here. They really are great!!

Yeah SD, she was acting normal....eating, not hiding away...or in anyway showing signs of illness. It was odd, and a shock, and I am guessing she had a heart attack. I'm glad it was quick, and not a drawn out painful event at least.

So sorry SC, our pets are absolutely family and it hurts tremendously when they pass. She did live a nice long life and that should be somewhat comforting to you! Plus I'm sure she lived like a queen...mine sure has!

I hope all went well with the burial. Losing a beloved pet is heartbreaking and I'm so sorry you had that happen.
Because she was 14, it sounds like she had a good, long life! Thank you for giving her that life!

Losing a pet can be as hard as a loved one sometimes. I feel the pain you have as I lost my beloved calico a few years back. I was devastated and the only way I could cope was to adopt an identical looking orange, black and white calico again. She's my heeling cat and just touching her makes me feel good. Sorry for your loss and as much as you might not want to there's so many loving animals out there that would love to find a forever home with you.

We do still have our he-cat...

...and I babysit my grand-kitty.:) (my oldest daughter's kitten comes over quite a bit since she works full time, and goes out often)

...so while I certainly mourn the loss of Molly...I do have others to love on!

What you say is true though...my mom lost her cat a few months ago, and was so depressed. However, she was hesitant to adopt another cat.

We finally just surprised her with another kitty...and she is SO happy now.:)
