As SC said, they have very similar mechanisms of action. They're both central nervous system depressants - meaning they calm all those nerves and physical sensations happening when anxiety occurs. Klonopin is sometimes used to control seizures - as it calms the nervous system (brain) to reduce seizures. The half life of Klonopin is like 30-50 hours, so it stays in your system a while.
I was recently prescribed klonopin for acute anxiety while longer term meds kick in, and I find it pretty useless! Everyone reacts differently, but it doesn't seem to calm me much at all. ::shrug:: But some people say it's saved them and all that works for them. So sometimes it's just a trail and error to see what works best for you!
Wishing you peace and reduced anxiety!
