Anxiety..new med..not feeling so good

I am sorry to hear of all you have gone through these past few weeks. A discontinuation, and two separate start ups is quite a lot to handle...so know that the way you are feeling is not unexpected.

Of course neither is it welcome...right? :/ So hang in there and remember this is a temporary means to an end. Another week or so should bring the turn around you need.

What medicine are you supposed to start taking for anxiety?

I forgot what it is, it is generic for effexor

Lexapro was a bit rough on me when I started it a few years ago...some of the same side effects as you mention. However, that subsided and now it is super effective at keeping my anxiety (and related depression) mostly at bay.

I get so scared sometimes bcuz I dnt knw if I'm dieing or what. My doc also gave me .5mg klonopin to take to help sleep & to help with the anxiety/panick attacks but I only take 1/2 of one.

Remember this is temporary...so in a while, you'll be looking back and saying, "Yeah, that was rough, but worth it since I am feeling so much better now."

Please use your benzo as needed! That is what it is for...and once your Lexapro comes to a therapeutic level and your system gets accustomed and the s/e's have phased out, you can stop taking it.

You will get past this current state and the challenges! Use those coping skills to help.:)

Welcome to the site.. I am sorry your having a rough time ☹
Anxiety and all its baggage sucks big time ... But you will find that strength to cope... you sound very positive in your outlook to 'getting there" which is half the battle won.

Its the unknown what if's that get to you..... I was the same, and when i joined this site i was so desperate for answers and there was always an answer or support.


The work question .. different for everyone but with forward planning and being determined to do it , i had coping skills up one sleeve, mantra's up the other and an app on my phone in one pocket, and emergency diazapam in the other just in case...
I managed with the first three .. Not easy but i did it.

The app on my phone is called take a break .. that was a free one ... and with discreet little ear buds in , i was able to grab some time to use it... now i dont grab the time i Make the time.

Another app was meditation oasis , i purchased that but used it in many scenario's to everone else i was listening to music... When at my desk lol i got disturbed less as people thought i was really busy ... little did they know .. i was feeling the fear and doing it anyway.

Daily life... coping skills are paramount to me and affirmative mantra's... ok im talking to my self in my head but the repetitive words start to sink in and the anxiety fades.. that is a biggy ... it took some time to master it but i still use it now.. just to ensure that the anxiety knows who's boss .. so to speak.

Any way this is you.. we are all different ... But know that it can and does get easier .. You will come through it and it actually makes you stronger.. well thats what i found... occaisonal blips but the coping tools along with your meds ... You can do it.

Today I woke up feeling so panicky. God I hope this goes away. I hate feeling like this. I took 1/2 of my klonopin so hopefully soon it will subside. 😔

You said you had been on Celexa for 13 years.

I know this person who is on Celexa anti-depressant and about a month ago went to the ER with back pain.

They gave her Librium tranquilizer.

She comes back the next day to the same ER, not with just back pain, but this time with severe constipation and stomach pain. They didn't connect the new ailment of severe constipation and stomach pain with the Librium they had given her the night before.

So they give her more Librium.

On the next day, she goes to a new hospital ER with more severe constipation and stomach pain, and that hospital also doesn't connect the Librium with the constipation and the Celexa.

So they also give her more Librium. She goes home and takes the Librium and is now so tired and sick from constipation she doesn't have the strength to knock the flies off of her.

Someone gets her some constipation medicine and food, which saves her life, and she recovers enough to go to her pharmacist to get the ER script for Librium filled.

Her female pharmacist saves her life again when she tells her:

"Librium doesn't go good with Celexa (which the pharmacist knew she was taking, because that's where she gets her scripts filled) and could attack an organ."

This individual said, it attacked her pancreas because she already has pancreatus and caused the constipation. If that pharmacist hadn't told her that, she would have taken more Librium, along with the Celexa, which could have been fatal.

So, if you ask your doctor for a tranquilizer and he gives you Librium, the combination of Celexa anti-depressant and Librium could cause you a lot of problems. You might want to inform him of that now.

I am sorry to hear that you are unwell.:( It does make the anxiety management much more difficult.

Dizziness while suffering congestion in the ear is completely expected. (our inner ear controls balance and a little change there can really throw you off!) So try not to let it worry you...it will be cleared up soon.

Rest, hydrate and draw deep with your coping skills to recover and get through this challenge...both physically and mentally.

I am feeling exactly the way you are feeling now. Change in medication dosage and feeling nauseous and sometimes dizzy. Have zero energy and of course, I worry about everything. It has been 3 weeks now and hoping the buproprion will take effect soon. No panic attacks though.
Also trying to deal with some family members that don't understand what I am going through. Some say it is in my head, snap out of it. Or, you don't need medication, you need therapy. Until someone has experienced this, they will not understand. Just want to stay inside and not talk to anyone. I know that's not good either. Got dressed, fixed my hair and hope to go about my day.
