LMA,
Cortisol is usually the culprit for increased morning anxiety. It is a stress hormone...and while necessary for getting us up and moving after hours of inactivity....too much, or a sensitivity to it will cause misery.
To reduce/manage Cortisol levels, here are a few things you can do.
*Following a healthy diet including whole grains, lean protein and dairy, plenty of vegetables/fruits and healthy fats. (reduce sugars simple carbs and processed foods)
*Exercise. (especially aerobic) Even if you can just fit is some walking or marching in place...every bit counts!
*Getting enough sleep.
*Anxiety management. Coping skills...journaling, meditation, breathing and progressive muscle relaxation, positive mantras/affirmations...
Remember that doing one/two of these things sometimes is not going to make the difference that doing all of them consistently, as a lifestyle change, will!
