Is it normal for me to be so stinking tired all the time with only taking 5 mg of Lexapro? Other than being excessively tired, that's the only negative effect I've noticed from it. I'm a little concerned about
how tired I am on such a small dose. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? How long will it last? I started the Lexapro last Saturday, so this is the beginning of my 2nd week.
Any input would be great!
Thanks,
Amy

I am sure I read in a post a while back that someone had yawning and tiredness when starting but it cleared up.
Someone who knows the drug will give you sound advice when they read your post xx
As I may have read a different drug.
Hope you pick up soon xx

I know when I upped my prozac, I was exhausted. Give it time. If that's the only side effect, maybe it will pass. How are you feeling on it otherwise?

Hanging,
I feel good otherwise...I've had more motivation, little anxiety and haven't cried since I've started it...so a huge improvement. Thank you for replying and asking how I'm feeling as well!!

Just thinking out loud...You may be getting relief from the med (i.e. a calmer mind), so it feels like exhaustion. It may be your brain seizing on the opportunity to unwind.
I know when the Lexapro kicked in for me I was able to sleep so much better! Even on nights when I didn't take a sleep med.

Sylk,
I am so glad to hear that, besides the feeling tired, that you're finding relief!
This is great news, because this initial effect will very likely phase out soon as you adjust.
I am so happy for you, and with you continued progress!

Anxious Texan and S. C.,
Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot to me. Maybe you're right, A.T...about
my mind being calm and relaxed therefore making me feeling more tired. I just hope that the calmness stays and the fatigue wears off!

Larry,
LOL That's the problem! I feel like I can sleep all day! I love my naps, don't get me wrong, but I got stuff to do! Just got my Fed Ex package in the mail today as well to do my "at home sleep study" for the next 2 nights. At least I should sleep well for that! ;)

That could be it---with less angst in your mind it may feel a bit tired.
I am glad you're feeling well. When a med works well for you, it can really help you be able to take baby steps you need to regain your freedom. Keep us posted

Same here this is my 12th day and there are times where I feel super tired, but unable to unwind. It makes sometimes nervous because I have two daughters 13 and 5 to take are of. Like today I felt super tired and we had to go to the orthodontist then I felt nervous. It passed. What time do you take yours?

Susan,
I take mine in the morning...I've always taken my meds in the morning, it's just easier for me. I know what you mean about
being tired, but when I lay down to nap, I'm restless. I spoke to my PDoc today and he said to just go with the flow, let my body adjust.
How are you doing with yours other than the fatigue? Any other side effects for you?

At the beginning my GERD was horrible as well as nausea. I do feel restless even though I am tired I can't nap. I have trouble staying asleep which I already had for about
3 months since this started. I am sticking to it because I know it works. I used it two years ago, but I didn't have these side effects.

Susan, do you happen to know who the manufacturer of your escitalopram is? I know that my body does not do nearly as well on generics. My manufacturer is Aurobindo.

Amy,
I bought the brand name. I didn't want to mess with generics this time.

I slept well on the brand name and can't sleep on the generic so I have to take Trazadone, 25-50mg every night to get to sleep

Susan and Patty,
I think I'm going to switch over to the brand name too. I take Trazodone at night, Patty and I can't sleep a full hour. I'm so restless...even though I'm exhausted. Gah, it's always something and I'm getting a tad frustrated!
Susan, do you have a coupon for the brand name or do you have to pay full price?

My insurance paid some I guess and I ended up paying like 60.

Susan,
I was taking generic Effexor XR for the longest time...found a coupon for it and now I take the brand name again, and only pay a $4.00 co-pay instead of $5.00 for the generic. Cheaper for the brand name with my insurance and coupon.
I called my pharmacy a bit ago as I have found a coupon for brand name Lexapro as well. They take the coupon and it also works with my insurance, but I have to wait until my refill is due to actually get the price on the brand name Lexapro. I'll let you know what I find out as soon as I find out from the pharmacy.
For me, I know that the brand names definitely work way better than the generics...I guess my body is that sensitive to meds, not sure.
$60 isn't too bad, especially if it makes you feel better!! I'd be willing to pay that too!

Do you still take the Klonopin 3 times per day and the trazodone?

I'm interested in the price for brand name Lexapro too. At one time it was pretty $$$ here almost 275.00 for 3 month supply which my Doctor said is not worth the cost..he believes it's the same as generic and could not see me paying such. Makes me wonder if he thinks the sleeping thing is all in my head..I don't sleep through the night..I wake up 3-4 times too but I know I slept much better on the brand Lex.

Susan,
Yes...I still take the klonopin 3x a day. Everything that's in my profile is current and correct dosage.
Patty,
It's not in your head. Some do fine with generics, others do not. I don't. Seems like you need the brand name too.
Are you in the states? If so, I use Rite Aid as my pharmacy and they do anything they can to help me.

Sylkn,
I'm in metro Atlanta, GA. I've been getting my script
s through Express script
s or something like that, (snail mail) they give you the best price. It would be nice to see the cost of brand Lex go way down but I think I'm asking too much..The medication works well but my sleep doesn't.. I took Paxil years ago and that too caused me a lot of sleep disturbances..
I'm ok with Trazadone and only take .25 since I lowered my Lex dosage to 10mg..I was on 20 and in that case, you need to take 50mg of Traz..Still not too bad..Some take much more

Sylk,
I think with the Lexapro you will be able to stop the Klonopin because you will not feel anxious no more. I hope it really helps you. how long have you been taking the Effexor? I would like to
Be able to sleep and I might try the trazodone. How do you sleep with that medicine?
Regards,
Susan
