anxiety / strong heart beat

Hi
For the past few days if i dont take my xanax my heart feels like its coming thru my chest and i can feel my heart rate in my ears. Does anyone else go thru this?
I take xanax as needed so I try to use them when I really need them. I color and do other things first to calm myself. I took a xanax about an hour ago and it kicked in and has helped.
My aunty passed away last July and her birthday is Monday and I'm focusing on it and I think its effecting my anxiety :-(
I just needed to vent a little.

What you are experiencing without the xanax is your normal heart beat, the reason you notice it is the
xanax makes you calm and slows the cardiovascular system down it's not harmful either way, i notice mine
in my ears also, thats due to the ear drum and the fluid in the inter-ear.
What other meds are you on? Peace

Hi

Sorry to hear of your aunts passing.

Continue to take your xanax as prescribed but you could also look into doing some Mindfulness we have some good links in our resources so take a look.

I am sorry to hear of the difficult anniversary coming up, that is surely contributing to your anxiety currently.

Keep using your coping skills and rescue med as needed to get you through this time.

Thank you for the replies.
Mary my heart rate goes up when I'm
Anxious. I hear it in my ears because
At time the heart beat is so strong. I focus on it to much.

I try the coping skills but have to take the Xanax if it becomes to much.
If ideal an attack coming on and don't feel the coping skills will work I take my Xanax
I take 20 mg lexapro daily as well

Thats much the same as i use to use xanax, over time with group therapy i got to a point that knowing
i had the xanax in my pocket i could do with out it, it takes time and you will get there, Peace
