At the Hospital With My Dad (scheduled surgery)

Hello family,

My dad is having a hernia surgery this morning. I would appreciate positive thoughts and prayers for him. He is in operation now, as I type and wait here with my mom.

I could also use some support/encouragement for the next 2 days. My mom has cognitive impairment issues, so for safety, I'll be staying at their house overnight tonight and tomorrow.

So...I'll be going back and forth between my house and theirs. I still need to pick up my daughter from school, and take care of business at home as much as possible...

...as well as go to work, so it's going to be a push.

My sister is handling food for them, so that is good, and I can eat dinner with hubs and daughter, and just go do the night/morning shift.

If I'm MIA...you'll know why...but should be around I think.smile

Thanks all...it went really well, and he came out of surgery with no issues. smile

The biggest hurdle now is explaining why I am spending the next two nights at their house. My mom doesn't understand why they need help...and doesn't want me there. (she thinks they are burdening me)

...but I just tell her it's good to have an extra person there just in case.smile

Ah...the joys of being the Oreo generation, lol!

hey scardeycat. your dad will be fine. the hardest thing i have experienced with men and hernia surgery is keeping them still and not trying to do everthing right away after the surgery. im here

S.C, how are you doing? HOw's your dad and family? This sounds like a huge stressor. Hope all are working together to alleviate the stress and focus on dad's recoverysmile

My dad has his ups and downs but is definitely improving daily!

I'm not gonna lie...this week has been a push, even with my sisters and I sharing the load...so we are going to have to talk about hiring some help for any future convalescent issues, until they make the move to assited living.

Today is my day off...so I am going to REST!!
