For the ladies ~ Any D&C experience?

I can't believe there isn't a board for this subject, but since my primary diagnosis is always "anxiety", I may as well post here. Gentlemen, you may want to skip. I am peri-menopausal I guess, and have been suffering from irregular and excessive bleeding for some time. This past week I had a D&C performed. So now of course I'm very anxious about any little symptom I'm having. I'm still bleeding, though very lightly, and cramping moderately. Has anyone been through this procedure for a similar situation? I imagine it's slightly different from a miscarriage/abortion situation. I wish there was a board at this site for "menopause", is there a way to request one?

Betsy, I checked with my sister who has done this twice. She said what you are experiencing is normal & once things are healed inside this should subside. In the event the D&C does not take care of the original problem here is something else to research & consider. My daughter all of her life had very irregular cycles & then when one did happen it was bad. She would go months & months without one. Her friend told her about a procedure where they do an ablation. Her friend was plagued with the same situation. Now she is regular & it is very, very light for about 2 days & she is done. So, a little food for thought. This was several years ago when she had it done so that you know its not something new being done.

Also, over the years in the past members have asked about adding different forums & the admin/owner advised us he would not be adding anything new. A lot of it is the cost to maintain Healing Well, he has to pay for space here for us members to post. Healing Well is a non-profit so the expense of keeping Healing Well alive is out of his pocket. A couple of years ago some of us mods found out what it costs him a month to keep it going & we were shocked at the amount, we had no idea. The ads you see here at HW do not make a dent towards the monthly cost. Knowing what I do, I now understand his position.

Thank you all for responding! I'm feeling the love. Prew, a D&C is short for "dilation and curettage", and is done for an abortion or miscarriage, or as in my case, for extended bleeding problems (uterine). I was supposed to also have the ablation that Straydog recommends, but sadly that didn't take. Not sure what my options will be moving forward. If problems persist, probably a hysterectomy, but my GYN is hopeful the D&C will "reboot" things. I am 51....so how much longer can this last?

I would enjoy a place to share change of life frustrations, but at the moment, they tie most closely to anxiety, so here I am. Again, thanks for the comments. Sometimes I feel better just putting my racing thoughts to keyboard.
