I've been doing all of the prep for my colonoscopy as of yesterday. In the evening, I had to take an entire bottle of magnesium citrate. I didn't feel the effects of that until the next morning. Today, I was on a all clear liquid diet. I drank black coffee, .5 bottle of Powerade (the large ones), and ate a lot of jello and had chicken broth.
I started my cocktail for the remaining cleansing at 4:30. Directions state to follow with 5 8oz glasses of clear fluids with electrolytes. So I had more vitamin water (20oz) and another bowl of broth. I had to take the second dose at 10:45 and follow it with same amount of fluids. I drank another 20oz bottle of vitamin water and some more Powerade. I had sips of water here and there, but I mainly drank power drinks for the electrolytes.
My three concerns:
1) How is this not too much fluids? If you are excreting excessive amounts of nutritents, is this a risk? I read online that it may be, and that's why they say to eat broth (idk if my 2 bowls were enough). I've always been afraid of overhydration.
2) I read that your stool is supposed to be yellow/clear and mine is not. I'm worried I have a failed prep even though I followed all directions
3) I've never had any sort of sedation and I'm getting it for the first time tomorrow. My dr called it a twilight sedation. I'm absolutely terrified of being sedated at all. I even did an endoscopy without any sedation. I'm worried something will go wrong with my heart or I won't wake up
