I had this recently happen to me. I was not on any meds and had not been for several years. I usually work out to release my stress but had an injury. I was stressed, maybe a little depressed, which lead to anxiety. In addition, I have severe allergies with constant postnasal and have a history of acid reflux(actually had surgery), so my throat was already irritated. It started off as almost a choking feeling, then it settled in as a lump sensation. I did not realize at first but I was actually trying to swallow all the time to make sure I still could. Guess I irritated my throat even more. Once my injury healed, I started running and the breathing really knocked it out. Too bad, I dropped a heavy object on my foot so no running for awhile.
Point being if it is anxiety, meds, etc, please try to be as calm as possible. The more worried or anxious you get, the more your body likes to tense up making it worse.
