Hello~ I am new to this forum and hope I am in the correct space. I have had panic/anxiety disorder that effects my breathing...or I should say my ability to take a deep breath for over 20 some years. I have been on Paxil 10-40 mil for well over 15 years and it has been a life saver for me. I recently started having panic/anxiety issues again and my doctor said that the Paxil was not working for me anymore...so, he switched me to Lexapro 20 mil. I was very afraid of switching meds because I have experienced Paxil withdrawals a few years ago when I ran out of the meds and did not get them refilled for a few days...HORRIFIC illness!! But, doctor assured me that the addition of Lexapro gradually as I tapered off the Paxil would be easier. Well, I must say that the breathing issues have gotten MUCH better as I am increasing my Lexapro and decreasing Paxil, but the brain zaps started when I got to week three of my switch...1/4 Paxil 10 mil to 15 mil Lexapro. I am now on week four...no Paxil and full 20 mil lexapro and the zaps are insane...finding it hard to function....Question is this...do I tough it out until the zaps go away and when will they go away- or do I do something else...like go back on 20 mil paxil and 10 mil lexapro...as that seemed to be OK. Any advice would be great! Glad to find this forum.
