I have had severe anxiety for several months now and just recently sought help for it. Back in August or September my doctor prescribed me 10 mg of Lexapro and I asked him if I could start out at 5 mg because I was worried about side effects. He agreed it was a good idea to slow into it. So I was on 5 mg for a couple of months, and it was working very well for me. I had a little bit of side effects (tingling in arm, headaches, etc.) but once they subsided I felt great, people were complimenting on how my mood has improved and I seemed to be feeling better. I was still having intrusive thoughts and some anxiety, and so I scheduled an appointment with my therapist. I couldn't get an appointment until a month later (this was in November) I bumped up the Lexapro to 7.5 mg, and didn't have any bad side effects. I finally got in with my therapist and I have a free sessions and it seems as though it will be very helpful.
Yesterday I increased my dosage up to 10 mg, and I am now having really bad increased anxiety and the tingly arm again, which I know is just the increase in medicine and probably partly anxiety. My question is should I try to stick with the 10 mg or just go back down to 7.5 or 5 mg? I feel as though the combination of medication, therapy, and self-help strategies I can get through this... and I do plan to talk to my doctor and therapist about this but I am wondering if anyone else felt improvements on 5 mg of Lexapro.
