Hi Folks

I have been having the following recurring dream and was wondering if anyone else has had the same dream? Before I tell you about the dream I will let you know that my anxiety has been running high this past few weeks so I do feel anxiety is causing this dream.

I have been getting the following dream pretty much every night for the last few weeks.

In this dream I am chewing gum and when I try to remove it from my mouth I can't as it gets stuck to my teeth and I have to keep pulling the gum out and it is never ending. A few times in the dream when I have been pulling the gum out some of my teeth have feel out as I have had to pull so hard.

I have found this dream to be quite unsettling and was just wondering if anyone has had a similar dream?

Hi Hibee,

That is a weird dream, I was just wondering if you are grinding your teeth at night which is triggering the dream ?

I have read that some medications can make you grind your teeth or clench your jaws.

Hope these stop for you soon.

As far as I know I do not grind my teeth during the night or clench my jaw and I go to the dentist every 3 months and it's not something they have picked up.

Thanks for your input though as what you say does make sense.

I have had a similar dream minus the chewing gum. I have had dreams where my teeth fall out, it's gross and unsettling. I find it strange that your dreaming this every night.

Yes that is what I am finding strange as i'm having it every night I have an appointment with my pdoc coming up so will mention it to them I do feel it's anxiety related.

Sorry you are dealing with this disturbing recurring dream.;/ I don't feel fully rested after having vivid/memorable dreams...so I feel your frustration.

Dreams about teeth are common...and often deal with fears revolving around loss. Here's a link I used to use a lot when I was dreaming vividly and would awaken wondering about what it all meant!

I've had dreams about my teeth, and I will second SC in saying typically it has to do with fears revolving loss, or a sense of powerlessness...

I'm sure the unsettle in the UK is affecting your subconscious too...

I know it's frustrating!

Yes your right it's mental over here in the UK at the moment lots going on I think there is going to be a lot of unrest coming with people out on the streets protesting.

Hibee, I suffer from that exact same dream. I've had the chewing gum show up like that in several dreams. I don't know what it means, but it sure is disconcerting. I too suffer from anxiety.

I regularly have exactly the same dream. I feel very frustrated in my life so makes sense that it’s related to anxiety and not being able to have any control over the situation.

Hi,

I do get the same dream with gum. Never finish removing it from my teeth. I finally got used to the dream but the first few times was unsettling. I do have to use a mouth guard because I grind my teeth and I even had to get 2 fillings due to the wear of my teeth. When I do not use the mouth guard I chew the inside of my cheeks while I sleep.

You may still want to check for a mouth guard just in case because it does not allow for you to make a lot of force with your jaw while sleeping due to the anxiety. Good luck!
