Chest pains

Chest pain is a "less common" side effect of Effexor, says drugs.com.

You aid:

"when I have them (chest pain) I feel like I’m on the verge of dieting."

Are we talking about on the verge of dieting or dying?

We need a clarification on that one.

I've been in those situations and I didn't know what to do, either. One is supposed to be for your health and one you feel is killing you. Gosh.

In your first post you said, "My doctor switched me last week from Effexor Xr to regular Effexor at a much lower dosage to see if that helped. I started them Friday night and had chest pain all weekend to the point where I feel like I can’t breathe correctly."

Whoa.

You also said in your first post, "This is definitely not the medicine for me. sad"

Gosh. Maybe check with your pharmacist. Is the chest pain stopped when you reduced the dose?

So he changed you from Effexor Xr to regular Effexor, and you started he new one Friday night.

And you started having chest pain with the change, all weekend, we'll say Saturday and Sunday.

Can you go back to the first one, Effexor Xr?

Gosh, so the Effexor XR gave you chest pains also. Did you mention that to you doctor, this is causing me chest pains?

Thanks Hibee. We’ve talked last week and she said chest tightness is anxiety but chest pain is most likely medicine. I see her again Friday for my genetics testing. At this point I rather pay the $775 then the trying of all these medications that don’t see to be working well.

I take Mirtazapine, but it's never caused me chest pain.

However, I have had chest pain from too much stress.

Once the stress situation went away, the chest pain went away. So I know it was from stress.

Are you in a stressful situation?

I had costochondritis for over a year and a half and it is very painful.- it that was the problem massage worked wonders for me.

However, in the last 8 months while battling anxiety and panic attacks I went twice to Er with chest pains and did all the tests and was given an all clear. When talking to my brilliant GP she suggested I put Voltaren gel on the area I felt the most pain and though I doubted it would help it absolutley did. She told me about the muscles in the chest area close to the heart area - she could press on the area and i would wince. That's just my experience.

I have very little anxiety now but when I am in a situation that causes me to be anxious quicker than you can snap your fingers my whole torso goes into pain as if I was just hit by a truck. I am told it is the miss-firing of adrenaline into my muscles- thinking I am in a fight or flight situation ( which i am not). It feels horrible but gave me great insight on the power of anxiety and muscles. When the anxiety dissapates so does the muscle pain... and sometimes I put the Voltaren Gel to speed up the pain going away.
