Hi everyone. I’m home from work for the 2nd time in 2 1/2 weeks because of how sick I feel. I m feeling super guilty but I can’t perform at work properly like this. I have been almost constantly feeling jittery with the the vibration feelings in my arms and legs, stomach and gut feeling unsettled, lightheaded, head tingling...the list goes on. Last night I had the usual couple glasses of wine and soon after dinner, got nauseous. By the time I went to bed, I was very nauseous and didn’t sleep because I kept waking up feeling like I was going to puke and having anxiety attacks. Got up this morning and puked. I absolutely can’t keep going feeling like this. It’s not me. My boyfriend and I just moved into our house almost a month ago and couldn’t be happier. Get here was a very stressful 4 month process. Now we’re in and working on getting settled and I feel like this??? I’m angry about it and decided to talk to my doctor. I have an appointment in the morning but still sit here feeling totally not myself. Any thoughts or words of encouragement appreciated. I just want to cry right now.

I, we, understand how you feel.

WORK
I understand the guilty feeling of not being at work and/or not performing better. While it may be of little solace, I look at it this way. AT LEAST YOU CARE. So many, especially where I am now, seemingly could give two craps. At least you are loyal and want to do the best you can.

Once you see your doctor tomorrow, perhaps you two can game plan regarding how to help all these symptoms you're having. At that point, you can possibly perform better. If it continues, you may consider going to your Human Resource Department to discuss what is going on with them.

Wine
Are you dependent on the wine on a daily basis? If so, there are healthier ways to deal as I'm sure are outlined in the resources section of this forum. Yes, it's easy for me to sit here and say that. We all have a vice or vices.

Moving
Moving is one of anxiety's many stomping grounds. It is atypical and is its own animal so to speak. Yes, getting there was stressful. That part is over now. You can't change what happened to make you anxious. You can change how you respond in the future. Practice concentrated, deep breathing when you don't need it. When you do need it, the body will be trained to respond how you want it to.

Body: "Oh, this is happening. It's time to do this."

When we don't practice our breathing, we tense up, and less oxygen comes in.

You state you couldn't be happier. Please elaborate on that whether in your mind, verbally, or here. I suggest you click the link under my topic of the mind-body connection and read what has been written as well.

If it's any consolation, I cannot afford my own place, so at least you have the opportunity to have that. You also have someone there that loves you romantically; something I also lack. Make that glass half-full.

I am so sorry that you are struggling r.n., when you should be enjoying this exciting new chapter with your new house and all the good things going on...

I am glad that you've made an appointment to talk with your doctor tomorrow...well done! I am sure that you will come away with a new management plan to help you start to feel your best again.

With a med tweak, a therapy referral...self help strategies, or all of the above, you will get back on track soon.

Stay encouraged and know you are doing the right things to help yourself...time and continued effort will bring the results you need.

Work, I've always had a great work ethic and do great at my job. I love what I do and have been here almost 22 years.

Wine, although I've been drinking wine each evening, I'm not dependent on it. Because I was nauseous and getting sick the last two days, I didn't have any last night and didn't crave it. My main concern was getting some food in my stomach.

Moving, yes, I know moving is a major stressor. What we went through to get the house was a HUGE stressor. Now we're moved in and still working on getting settled. Painting, yard word, small tweaks here and there... and I was doing fine until Tuesday afternoon/evening. I was home yesterday and got some food in my stomach. Still feeling weak and just run down but at least am at work. Mortgage isn't going to pay itself.

I'm anxious to go to doctor today and see what she says. I can't go on feeling like this. Slept good last night and still feel tired and like a wet noodle. Totally not me!

All that's awesome! I'm sure the folks you report to see that and are understanding that when something comes up with you like this, you are taken seriously. Hang your proverbial hat on that one. Give yourself some credit.

Wine
I hope you didn't take offense to what I said. It was more of a curiosity thing with no judgement one way or the other. Eating when you don't feel well can be taxing.

Moving
Can you pinpoint what exactly triggered you Tuesday to make things so difficult for you? I might suggest not doing too much at once in regard to getting your home completely perfect right now. Where I live, there is a mess everywhere, and it does stress me out because I am overwhelmed. So when I'm working at one thing, I see another, and get discouraged. Perhaps keep a list with specific things you'd like to accomplish in a given evening or on the weekend. Try to make it fun. Believe it or not, if you're organized in what you want to get accomplished (not to say you aren't), it could even be therapeutic. My mom used to plant flowers because it was therapeutic. You can also use this time to spend with your significant other. Doing things together could be rewarding to you both in more ways than one. If you're better at something than he is, teach him your method, and vice versa. Just some ideas!

Agreed. The mortgage won't pay itself, but you have to be well, too. Maybe just have an honest conversation with those you report to. I like to think people can be understanding. Do you have any days you can take off to help focus on the things that need to be done at home? Unwinding a few days from work can be good, too.

I truly wish I could pinpoint what happened. I've been fine and we were out working in the yard last weekend and got a lot done. Then Tuesday at work, after lunch, my stomach was a bit uneasy. I ate dinner that night and got nauseous. I didn't sleep much because I kept waking up feeling like I was going to get sick. I was exhausted Wed morning when I woke up and still nauseous so I stayed home. I did get sick right after I woke up and just stayed on the couch cat napping. Ate very little. Yesterday I came to work but felt awful. I went to the dr as well. Last night I ate dinner no problem. Got up this morning feeling like I hadn't slept. Went to dr for the blood draw them came to work and am totally not productive. I don't really have an appetite either. Just forcing bites here and there.
Whatever this is, I hate it. I don't remember feeling crumby in a long long time.

Yeah, triggers can be tough to identify. sad

I was wondering if maybe it was food poisoning or something, but since you ate OK last night, I'm not as sure now. Any word on when the H pylori test comes back?

My instincts say it's nothing major and should pass soon.

My initial thought was food poisoning too, but that idea went out the window pretty quick. The mornings are the worst because my stomach is empty. Simply drinking water this morning made me queasy but it passed quickly. Even brushing my teeth I had to make sure I didn't get too far back with toothbrush so I didn't gag myself. By lunch time, I'm eating fine and dinner I'm fine. Without getting gross about it, things are passing ok although a bit loose.

I've felt better the last several days. Eating and elimination normal. Then Tues morning I added some pineapple and strawberries to my cottage cheese and hashbrowns for breakfast. the cramping and sharp pains started again but weren't bad. Ate lunch and dinner fine. Then yesterday, lunch was shrimp sautéed in butter, garlic and lemon juice with broccoli and parmesean cheese over pasta. It was delicious but soon after I ate, bad pain/cramping and uneasy feeling. Continued til around 6 last night. Last night was a bit of chicken and mashed potatoes. E-mailed doctor w/report. She said avoid citrus and fatty foods for 6 weeks. If not improved, then do endoscopy. It's already been almost a month. I know I've been posting a lot...just tired and frustrated with this. Started a different probiotic last night too that's organic.
