hello, how is it going? yes, you can take GABA with Prozac and Xanax. the only possibility is the supplemental GABA would provide more GABA in between or in, (agonized) certain GABA receptors that the Xanax causes to happen by landing in the BZD receptors, anyway your body makes Gaba so there are no toxic or bad adverse effects. the jury is still out on taking GABA by mouth or sublingually because it does not pass the blood-brain barrier at all or it passes in very small amouts. the most plentiful amino acid in your body is Glutamine. Glutamine passes the blood brain barrier easy and then is turned to Glutamic acid which is excitory, but then turns to GABA, some Glutamine may turn straight to GABA. so GABA is produced in the brain and may not be absorbable or bioavailable taken as a supplement. i have taken up to 4grams per day with most at bedtime and it may have worked a little. the ways recommended nowdays are: taking L-Theanine can raise your brain Gaba level and serotonin, norepineprine, and dopamine. i think it is OK with Prozac. taking L-Glutamine will also raise your Gaba levels and it has tissue healing properties. L-Taurine acts like Gaba in the same nerve mechanism. taking B6 with any of the amino acids that are precursors to a neurotransmitter is essential. Inositol with the Gaba or Gaba precursor can increase the calming effect, also niacinamide, (a form of B3 that does not cause flushing), helps the calming. the doses of these things are kind of different for everyone but with Gaba 500-1000mg 1 or 2 times/day to start and titrating it from there is safe. L-Theanine: 100-200mg 1-3 times/day. L-Glutamine 500-1000mg 1-4 times/day. Taurine 500-1000mg 1-3. a B-Complex and Vitamin C(calcium ascorbate-ester-c), and Magnesium chealate or glycinate help gain the traquilazation with the amino acids. i believe one of these options would help almost anyone and i do it for chronic pain. i wish you the best of luck but check with your Dr. if you are going to try higher doses of stuff.
