Check In + Updates!

Hi HW Family,

It has been a while (to say the very least!) and I wanted to check in and say hello. Please know I think about you all often and send prayers and healing wishes to you all.

So much has happened over the past 6 months that it's hard to even really digest it all but I'll summarize the highlights (both positive and not so positive) and major changes:

- My partner of 5 years and I were married on August 18, 2018 in a beautiful ceremony in Lubbock!
- We took an epic honeymoon to Maui for 10 days and it was bliss despite me getting sea sick on the way to snorkel near a crater under the sea and projectile vomiting over the side of the boat with an audience of 150 people. But there's a first for everything, right?
- My mom sold my childhood home which was really triggered some weird existential crisis within me that was hard to wrap my head around.
- My dad, an addict, was in a pretty big accident and almost lost his life from riding his bike after taking Xanax, cocaine, and alcohol. Luckily someone found him on the side of the road and got him to the ER just in time.
- We packed up all of our stuff and moved to Bend, Oregon a month ago! I can't really utter how huge this is for me since I spent all of my 26 years in my hometown of Los Angeles and never, ever anticipated moving out of my childhood home, let alone buying a house in a different state. BUT, I. Love. It. Here. It's as close to home as I've felt since saying goodbye to the home that raised me. But, I do miss 'home' sometimes. Not Los Angeles necessarily, but I miss being close to my mom, my friends, and familiarity.

So many changes, in such a small amount of time. Surprisingly my anxiety has, for the most part, been at bay for this part of the ride. Besides rearing its head here and there, it's really dwindled for which I am so grateful.

It feels good to type all of this out, and as I sit here I realize how much I've really missed this community.

I guess all I want to ask from you all is just prayers/positive thinking/good vibes as I navigate the trials and errors of being a newlywed, adjusting to living in a new town while being away from those closest to me, and the ability to make new friends and form a new social circle.

I too have to move from my family home of 20 years. so far I haven't felt any separation anxiety or other stuff at leaving the home but i am contributing that lack of emotion due to the over abundance of anxiety at searching for an affordable place and the stress it's causing the whole family.

i'm actually looking forward to planting roots in a new place and am eager to see how my emotional state reacts.

Thanks for your warm wishes. My dad is okay now and is on and off working an AA program. One day at a time as they say. Whoever 'they' is!

I thought it would be his rock bottom, and I think in a lot of ways it was but there's still a long way to go, as you know. You look happy, healthy and gorgeous as always!
