I am sorry to hear about your sleeping issues...I know that this can be absolutely miserable.
Both my daughters use Melatonin and find it really helpful in getting their circadian rhythms in sleep mode.
However, I have heard from others that Melatonin can *increase* dreaming...(not nightmares, but vivid dreaming has been reported)
...and while this isn't a negative experience...it is something to just be aware of as a possible result of using Melatonin.
Everyone reacts differently, so you will just need to try and see how you do.
Soundwave Therapy (Binaural Beats) is another possible tool to try for getting into a restful state. The recordings can be found on youtube, or as downloads/apps
