First of all, are all psychiatrists cold and impersonal or is it just the ones I have seen?
The latest one I saw said that I may have underlying manic depression, even though I do not have manic episodes or symptoms... she came to this conclusion due to my ruminating thoughts and my previous reaction to Zoloft (suicidal thoughts - I was on it 3 months and my previous psychiatrist had me wean off it when I told him about
the thoughts). She said that was not a normal reaction to Zoloft and an underlying manic depressive disorder is usually the reason for that type of reaction. She then went on to say that a mood stabilizer might be better and prescribed Cymbalta.
She would not give me refill on my Xanax, even though I only go through about
2-3 pills per month (they make me sleepy, so I only take a half of a .25 mg pill at a time; this is how I have been taking them, without any problem, since Jan.2014) saying that it was addictive. She also told me I should not continue with my medical marijuana prescript
ion.
I didn't feel particularly good about
the appointment afterwards. There were a few things she said that I didn't agree with, but I'm not a doctor.
Anyway, I know meds are different for everyone but I was wondering if anyone had any experiences/thoughts/in sight they would be willing to share with me about
Cymbalta. I have not begun to take it yet and am feeling unsure about
it.
Thanks!
