Hi all I'm new to this site... wondering if anyone is still on this thread?
I also have to deal with these eye prombles I first started to notice an afterimage of certain objects on the wall it would be like a clear image of it on the wall.. then I noticed if I look at the tv at night and look away I can still see the image on the wall that also happens with my phone .. and i also see trails in my vision and now they started where I can see a clear trail around a lot of things including my own arm or hand and it's really bothering me! I've had two regular eye exams one just two weeks ago and saw an ophthalmologist about a year ago and all said my eyes were fine just a little astigmatism.. also if I move my fingers I can see a clear air or soemthing a clear glow around my hands sometimes ..I get very anxious and read about my symptoms all of the time so I do believe I make it worse on myself.. just wondering others experience
Sounds the same as what a few of us here have described. My afterimages aren't as intense as yours, I can see them but they dissipate quickly. When you look away and see the image, does it stay for long periods of time, even if you blink numerous times? Or is it 3-10 seconds.
The visual trails you are describing seem pretty accurate to what we see. Same as the moving of your fingers, which is just the trailing occurring with brief motion. I assume you don't see the trailing if you are actually watching the moving object, only the peripheral.
Have you taken drugs before, legal or otherwise? Any natural supplements? How old are you, and when did you first notice it. Was there any trigger? Are you stressed/depressed at all, and/or suffering other medical issues?
If you go to this link:
https://www.testufo.com/framerates#count=3&background=none&pps=480
Stick your mouse cursor somewhere in the middle, and stare at it (you can blink if you need). Do you see a translucent, milky white extension of the moving ufo's behind it?
Some people believe this part of Visual Snow. A sub symptom of a general issue of the visual cortex of the brain. Seeing a static type flickering of some sorts when there's dim lighting, or even during the day. Visual trails like we mentioned, afterimages that are positive or negative, and many other symptoms that are sort of lumped together with this supposed brain issue.
I'm skeptical that it's the cause. As that would mean everyone here that hasn't taken drugs or anything, just has some idiopathic version. Seem's rare and unlikely to be the case.
I've read other people say they've had their significant other or family members see this "trail" we see. But it's just harder for them to see it, or to get the conditions right for them to notice it. And that we just happen to REALLY see it because we're overly aware of it due to anxiety and that we're in this feedback loop of always thinking of it, because we see it, creating a vicious cycle.
If "normal" people can see it at times too, then it's something that it's inherently not normal, and perhaps we truly are just more in-tuned to it, or have it possibly to a greater degree.
I've also noticed that if I close my eyes but still barely
open, like when you squint, the trailer seems to be way less intensive. Which I wonder if it has something as well to do with how the amount of light entering my eye is being processed.
I don't really see it in pure daylight, or when it's dark. I see it with like low to medium lighting in my house. Or if I'm in the car in garage, and turn on the car light I see it a lot. It seems to be very noticeable with contrast differences, so something bright or light colored against a dark color, ect..
