Anyone worried about this virus? It seems as though it is never going to go away until a vaccine comes out which is close to 18 months away!
With the measures in place now (trying to mitigate not eliminate) once these restrictions are lifted, we resume normal life cautiously, but this virus is not going to disappear. It may spread at a much slower rate but it is not disappearing. I am sure at some point we are all going to get it. I am very worried it appears as though no one knows how they are going to respond. Anyone else have this fear? What are you all thinking. I cant sleep at night

Yes I am also very anxious at the moment we are in lockdown here in the UK.

I know that scientists world wide are working hard and finding a vaccine but in the meantime we all need to stick to the restriction that have been put in place by governments around the world and only go out for essentials such as food and medicines and when you do go out adhere to social distancing which is staying at least 2m apart from anybody else you encounter when you are out.

Stay safe folks we will get through this use your coping skills to help with increased anxiety.

I know how you feel. And even if it slows down, I have heard it will come back in fall. It is scary and it is sad. But Hibee is correct. We need to stay away from others as much as possible. Only go out if you have to.

Try to find things to do so you don't think about it. That is what I do. My hubby has the news on continuously, I find other things to watch on my kindle or computer. I was cutting fabric for Trina for masks, I think I will cut some more. Maybe if you can find a way to help, it will make you feel like you have more control over your life.

I worry about getting the virus, but if I do, I will deal with it the best I can. And hopefully will survive it. Though I know worrying wont make me anymore safe. Acting will. I stay in as much as possible, wash hands frequently. If I can get something online, that is how I shop.

Try to stay calm. Do breathing exercises. That is what I was told today as I got panicky about it. It does no good to panic, it just lowers the immune system. Relax the best you can and make the best of the situation. Worrying doesn't change anything other than the way you feel.

Hang in there, you definitely aren't alone with your fears. Hopefully we can keep each other calm.

I hate to add to anybody's anxiety, but a vaccine is far away and may not turn out as effective as we hope for.
Moreover, we don't know if the virus will change over time (like flu and cold viruses) and there's a large reservoir of similar corona viruses in bats.

Again, I am sorry, but a realist (most of the time)

Its the reality. I mean I don't know how people with anxiety already are dealing with this. I hate to watch the news because it sends me in panic mode but can't help myself either. All day I have the news on and I get angry with the administration for how they are handling this outbreak. There is no no way with the measures in place it is going to disappear. Also, you just keep seeing all these people dying who, without this virus would not have died. It is so so sad.

One thing I practice to help keep my thoughts and fears in check -- I only do about 15-20 minutes of news a day, usually in the morning. Then I do other things all day. If I think of it I might do another 15-20 minutes in the evening, but often I find I'm busy with something else and I don't think about checking it a second time.

During the day I just do whatever precautions I need to, but don't let myself actually think about it too much. I fill my mind with other things - chores, books, movies, music, poetry, gardening, whatever your hobby or activity is that keeps you busy and focused.

Someone told me a long time ago, in respect to grieving a great loss -- allow yourself to get totally into it; crying, yelling, whatever, for 10-15 minutes a day. Then set it aside and go about living. I've adopted this way of dealing with whatever is causing me great stress -- it really helps!

Even though we have to keep with current events, I try to moderate the amount of time I spend watching the news so that I do not become overwhelmed.

I hope everyone is feeling well today. I am like luvmydad in that I feel the administration is doing a terrible job handling this situation. We have know since January this was coming and to have done nothing to prepare says volumes about us. Still I want to commend the healthcare workers for the job they are doing. On another sad note it is disgusting the way hospitals are handling this from a PR standpoint. They are firing drs and nurses who plead for more PPE. Also stories are circulating in which nurses are being evicted by landlords because of their close contact with the virus.

My wife and I are making masks for the hospitals in our area now. We are part of a quilt guild so we have many people skilled in making things such as this. They are asking for help and it does my heart good to help where I can. I pray everyday asking for this virus to leave us.

Bless you for making masks. Every bit helps. I was cutting fabric for masks, I couldn't do a lot but I did what I was able to. It made me feel good.

Yes I am. I took the test and they gave me tylenol and something some pill to keep my food down, which I don't need right now.I am locked away in my room.People hate bringing me food because in their mind,: I am already positive, It is hurtful but I understand.

I am trying to stay away from the news it is helping a bit and with the idea whatever happens happens. I don't know how long it will work for, but I am also trying to watch something funny before I go to bed, even though I still wake up in a sweat sad((

Work: I am mostly working from home, rarely going back to the office to get something.

Shopping: My biggest fear is going to grocery stores and Walmart to buy essential items. I wear a disposable mask and a pair of disposable gloves when shopping. But I still have a lot of worries when I go shopping. I have never tried grocery delivery service, because I am not sure about the quality.

Food: If I go to a restaurant and order a take-out, I will still have face-to-face encounter with someone within 6 feet. I have not tried a drive through window yet. The person who hands me the food through the window could be infected too, right? How about the container of the food?

How do you cope?

Paul, I shop once a week early morning, wear a mask & disposable gloves. If the parking lot has a lot of cars I don't bother going in. I prefer picking my own things out at the store, lol. We have done curbside pick up & drive thru windows no issues.

One thing I stopped doing was watching the news all the time. I watch my local news either in the am or pm, one time a day. I do not read the internet news, it's all too stressful, I don't need it.

I try to stay busy, I often listen to music, go outside & piddle around in the yard. I make it a point of going outside every day, we still need fresh air & sunshine. There are lots of ways to stay busy, including taking up a new hobby of some kind. Stay safe.

My husband goes to the grocery store and pharmacy about once a week. I haven't been out in weeks. I feel the need to go tomorrow. We'll see. I have masks and gloves too.

My husband watches the news all day long. I check in now and then but try to find other things to do.

I haven't needed toilet paper and bread yet, but I understand the shelves have been bare. So I hope to get extra when I shop. Not a lot, just enough so I don't need and not be able to get.

I do meditation a lot so that helps me to stay calm. And an occasional Xanax. But I try meditation first.

We are going to get through this. But we need to take it one day at a time and be thankful for each day.

The turtle has no fear. No use in it letting it create such a state of panic in us.

This is a political disease in theory. Swept under the rug initially by the world health organisstion and who cow tail to the chinese gov. No remorse by the them.

Yes pushing forum rules but i am pissed about this whole business.

A sign on my door reads. I will not live my life in fear, death awaits us all. By this mantra it reminds me to live even in this cluster expletive way.
