I have and it works very well for me. Only a week ago, I was taking two 1 mg Melatonin health food pill for sleep, and it quit working.
I came on this forum and people were recommending this and that health food for sleep and one suggested Melatonin. From that info, I decided to take four Melatonin, not two, at bedtime, and I got a good night's sleep that night and also the last two nights since I've been taking four of those.
Someone of the forum said her husband takes ten of those, and takes them about 3 or 4 hours before bedtime, as suggested by his doctor. If I take my Melatonin even an hour before bedtime, I can tell I go to sleep quicker.
My psychiatrist doesn't like any health food pill for they haven't been tested. But a week ago when I told her I was having trouble with sleep, none of her doctor pill suggestions made any sense, some I had taken before and they hadn't worked before.
So, without me coming up with the Melatonin, from searching the net for sleep aids and this website, I'm not getting much sleep, which is not good for you, either.
As for how much, I would start off with a reasonable amount (1?) and see what happens. But it's up to the individual to decide that after getting as much data as possible.
