Anxiety-Freak:
Do you have physical pain in your chest?
When I have physical pain in my chest, I can take an Ativan tranquilizer and it will stop the pain.
If it's just slight discomfort, I might try putting a heating pad on my chest, which expands the blood vessels and make it easier for the blood to flow through the heart in the muscles around the heart.
What did you tell the psychiatrist the last time you saw that person? Did they give you enough medication to calm down your anxiety with long term medicine?
Did they give you anything for short-term anxiety such as Xanax or Ativan tranquilizer?
If not, can you talk to the doctor about that at your next appointment?
When is your next appointment?
From what I've read, for hyperventilation, you can try to:
"Purse your lips. Put your lips into same position that you’d use to blow out birthday candles.
"Breathe in slowly through your nose, not your mouth.
"Then, breathe out slowly through the small opening between your lips. Take your time to exhale, and don’t blow the air out with force. Repeat these steps until you feel normal."
