It’s good to hear from you.
You say, “My anxiety is... A low but audible roar this past week. I was going to call my Dr and discuss increasing the buspar but I feel like I'm hoping for a miracle drug to completely stop all anxiety, fear and worry.”
You said you’re taking Prozac 60 mg. (which net says is an anti-depressant that also treats anxiety) and recently in last two weeks started taking Buspar 10 mg. (net says is anti-anxiety).
As for the Prozac, you said on 9-10-2020 you had been taking it “for years.”
Dan said on 10-6-2020, “could be after many years your prozac has stopped working? this is common with ssri drugs. i was on zoloft for 6 years and it stopped working . this is another thing to discuss with your dr.”
You said you’ve been taking Prozac for years. Did it work for you OK at the start? Did it quit working? For on 9-10-2020 you said:
“I can say those things but I can't stop my brain from making it into a nuclear bomb of terror and chaos. Racing thoughts, hot, cold, sweating, goosebumps, that suddenly burning feeling starting in your stomach and the burn goes out through your body, pounding heart. You know the deal.
“My psychiatrist has me on 60 mg of Prozac Sid, I've been on Prozac for years.”
You said the above had been going on for a week. So, was the Prozac holding back those feelings for years, and then a series of events broke through the Prozac? Is that what you think happened?
Is the Prozac working OK? And then you a month ago started the Buspar anti-anxiety at 5 mg., then a day or two later you were up to10 mg.
But with that you say now, on 11-8-2020, “A low but audible roar this past week. I was going to call my Dr and discuss increasing the buspar but I feel like I'm hoping for a miracle drug to completely stop all anxiety, fear and worry.”
Do you think the Prozac is doing it’s part?
In the search engine, I type in “medicines for anxiety,” and among the first five or so web sites, Webmd.com says,
“Examples of SSRIs that are commonly used to treat chronic anxiety include citalopram (Celexa), escitalopram (Lexapro), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), and sertraline (Zoloft). The antidepressants duloxetine (Cymbalta) and venlafaxine (Effexor), SNRIs (serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) which act on the brain chemicals serotonin and norephinephrine, and some of the tricyclic antidepressants like imipramine (Tofranil), may also help. Novel antidepressants such as mirtazepine (Remeron) are also prescribed at times.”
