My concern is I have a piece of food lodged in and will randomly start choking any idea how to tell difference
I have had a full on food impaction, which means it will not clear the esophagus on its own. Not even saliva will go down. I never had a feeling of choking, just food being stuck. I had to be hospitalized for an emergency endoscopy to clear the blockage. That's a telltale sign of EOE, which was later confirmed through follow-up endoscopy and biopsy to see if eosinophils (which cause the throat to narrow) were present. It's a kind of allergic reaction to one or more foods like dairy, wheat, eggs, soy, peanuts/tree nuts and fish/shellfish.
Below is an article explaining the condition you might find useful. But no doubt go to your doctor and speak about
your symptoms. They might refer you to a specialist like an ENT who can check your throat in a simple office procedure. Again, good luck.
