I have ringing in the ears or tinnitus. I got it from firing the rifle on the rifle range with no ear protection. Do you know how yours started?
Does your tinnitus also lead to being sensitive to noise and hearing loss? Mine has.
What can help me, with the being able to hear a little better for a little while, is putting an ice gel pack on one ear for about
30 or 40 seconds, and then the other ear. It reduces the inflammation as does such cold on the lower back, etc., during back pain.
Also helping to calm the ears is an extended length heating pad, which rushes oxygen and nutrients to the injured area, such as the lower back and the ears.
My technique for this is, to moisten the pad's cloth insert, or a small kitchen, etc., towel, wring out the excess water, put the heating pad on high on top of a pillow, put the moist towel on top of the pad, lay my right ear on the pad and wrap the other end of the pad around the back of my head and over my top ear.
Again, with an extended length heating pad, both ears are getting the benefit of the moist heat. It is psychologically and physically soothing. I lay like that from 5 or 10 minutes to 30 minutes. Sometimes I even go to sleep and may wake up an hour later. I can also do this when I lay down to sleep.
Sometimes when my ears are bothering me, I tell myself, if your ears are really bothering you, why don't you get up and put the heating pad on your ears? Sometimes I don't want to do that, but it gives me a reason to quit worrying about
it so much if I don't feel like getting up and putting the heating pad on my ears.
I would also not go around a certain level of noise, for, in my case, lead to sensitive ears to noise. I would not go to rock concerts, or listen to music over a certain level, or ride in airplanes.
I would not use a lawn mower or chain saw, or other loud equipment. High pitched warning bells on ovens and cars, car alarms, backup beepers, are all beyond me. If you already have tinnitus, I would not keep testing my ears around those.
