It seems almost everyone I talk to has at least gotten their first dose of the COVID vaccine, and are scheduled to get their second. I haven't even been called yet. This is very irritating, and, anxiety producing. I am 67 years old, and have pre-registered with our state for it. I'm starting to get paranoid that they have somehow forgotten me. I know, I know, it'll happen. I just had to rant (and wring hands) a bit.

Topo, I understand, I am your age with a 76 yr old husband. I signed us up 4 times on our county's website. It took 4 attempts before we got registered with them. Got a notice we are in line & haven't heard nothing. Yesterday morning early, I went to CVS website & got both of us an appt for Tuesday & our 2nd shot for the 30th! Go online & check out all of the pharmacies in your city & see who is offering the vaccine. More vaccines are availble now.

Mississippi always gets a bad rap on everything but they have been ahead of the game on the vaccines. I had both by Feb 19. Our local small town hospital had their plan and rolled. The line never stopped except for the injection. So pleased. They have dropped down to 50 and up and teachers. I feel so much better after having mine. I have a 4 month old grand that I want to protect. My husband is nervous about it. Go figure. Anyways most of the chains and even the small pharmacy’s have the vaccines here. Call around. Heck we had Louisiana people coming over here. Our governor dropped the mask mandate last week. Not sure I’m on board for that yet. We only had 70 new cases today and zero deaths. Our numbers have come down finally.

Sometimes just waiting for them to call you won't help you get it faster.

Here in our state someone has a facebook group on just locating shots. It has helped so many find one.
One thing you can do is call local pharmacy's and ask to be on a waitlist. They can give you shots that someone didn't show up for or leftovers etc.
Look at all the places that are offering the shot, walmart, cvs etc. and see if they have a sign up list. They do often and aren't the type of place that calls you to offer a shot, you have to sign up for it yourself.

Oh one other place is our doctors office has them now. You may try there.

You mention them not calling and made me recall what our local hospital did. They were calling our elderly and getting them in. This was towards the end of the mad rush of that group but I thought that was amazing. My in-laws got their shots this way. They are not able to stay on phone and call over and over. My mother in law ask me did I think this was legit. The hospital said they wanted all the elderly in our area to get the vaccine if they would want it. Now this is just in our small town. Population about 30;000.

Don't wait for the State to call. As Susie told you, try and register for you local pharmacies. I use a very small, local pharmacy and they have been receiving thousands of shots per week. If you have supplemental insurance with a carrier, register with them also. If you wait for the State to call you, you might wait for a long time.

An update - I actually got my shot a week ago, my second scheduled for the 25th. They said they did get my name from my registering with the state. It went really smoothly. Our state (WV) was proudly the first to provide vaccinations to all nursing and assisted living homes early on. Being a pretty rural state seemed to help. Glad to hear many folks here on this site are getting theirs too!

I read where WV was knocking it out of the park on vaccinations to the nursing homes and assisted living. That’s awesome. Glad to hear you got yours. It’s such a relief once it’s over. You will be 95% protected I think.

Good news in Ms. governor opened up the state for anyone 18 and up to be eligible for vaccine.
