Karen,
Good to know that your husband is able to get to sleep on 20 mg. Melatonin he buys over the net on Amazon.
In addition to my doctor medicine, Lithium stabilizer and Mirtazapine anti-depressant, which is for my bipolar, I also need something extra to get to sleep. It is, 7 mg. of Melatonin, taken about
an hour before bedtime, or whenever I start feeling groggy.
I then take an 8th, 1 mg. of Melatonin, as sort of a time release situation. (I think they do have a time release version of Melatonin.) If I wake up at 4 or 5 a.m. and can't get back to sleep, I can take another 1 mg. of Melatonin.
Dan, above, said that he gets to sleep on 6 mg Melatonin and 800 mg Valerian Root, which is sold at health food and maybe grocery stores and on the net.
In addition to that to get to sleep, he has high praises above for Celexa, which I think is an anti-depressant that also helps with anxiety. And since this is an anxiety forum and Dan is on it, I think it must help with anxiety, as well as probably depression.
about
Celexa he says above,
"i have been so well mentality that i havnt needed to come here -lol. dr increased my dose of celexa and i am doing well on it."
For those who don't like Melatonin, Dan notes, "i didnt realize Power to Sleep is also aval without melatonian till i saw a bottle at walmart and checked label. it should work well according to the ingredients even with out the melantoian."
Power to Sleep, with or without Melatonin, is also sold at health food stores, and maybe grocery in the health food section, and over the net.
My psychiatrist says none of the health foods have been tested, but when I asked her for a sleep aid her eyes went blank. She named one doctor medicine that I had taken before that was horrible, and I think a second one, and I realized, she doesn't have anything for sleep.
What is this called, pooling of information? All from this one thread.
This is Cilly's thread, but without Cilly, except for her starting it.
She said, "Hi There,
"Having sleep issues lately. Stopped melatonin so dint refill.
"Deep anxiety is back.
"So sad."
Cilly, hello. Are you taking anything for your depression and anxiety?
Dan was having good luck with Celexa. Have you tried that for depression and anxiety?
Oh, and thanks for starting the thread.
And as Joyce used to say at the end of her posts, and John Boy at the end of each TV show, The Waltons:
Good night, Cilly.
Good night, Karen.
Good night, Dan.
Good night, Joyce.
