Mice anxiety

Hi. Can't tell you how many times over the years that I've had the same anxiety over mice and cleaning up their droppings. Would send me into a panic. First, it's very unlikely that you have anything, especially if we're talking about common house mice. The majority of hantavirus cases are from exposure to the droppings and urine of white footed deer mice.

But in the future, if you don't already, wear disposable gloves and a mask when cleaning up the area where you have seen mouse activity. Also, if possible, put down a sanitizing solution to kill any pathogens and cut down on the dust you're sending into the air. Best of luck with the mice, or rather the cleaning up after them. I've done similar chores in the past, and never suffered the worst for it.

Yes I am! And I chose my "post name" because that's what I named my one cat, who by the way was a great mouser. And, I named his sister Rana, who was constantly catching frogs!

Seriously, J.Griff, I understand your concern about having mice around and the possibility of diseases. If I were you, I would contact a pest control company but if that cost is too expensive, look into some kind of rodent control traps. Make sure there isn't a food source they have access to in your kitchen. For example, plastic containers in the pantry will keep bugs and rodents from chewing through bags and boxes of food. Inexpensive plasticware is sold at DollarTree, for example. Place rodent repellents (or poison) around the outside of your house foundation.

Nice (or is it "mice"?!) to here other proud Italians chime in! My grandparents were born in Cerda, Sicily, which I made a pilgrimage to a few years ago. Beautiful land!

JGriff85 - hope your anxiety has lowered by this time. I see someone (moderator?) had fixed your typo - but I'm glad it started another conversation amongst us!
