It usually takes between 6 to 8 weeks for an antidepressant to fully kick in so you need to give it time and the strange thing is that you can actually get worse before feeling better again during this period.
Citalopram is IMO a good choice for treating anxiety but you may find you need to increase the dosage so stay in touch with your doctor so they can monitor your progress.
It’s also important to remember that antidepressants won’t completely cure you they will only help ease your symptoms so it’s good to combine them with talking therapy such as CBT as you will then have better results so speak with your doctor about getting a referral.
Self help is also important and we have some good links in our resources section so take a look I can recommend the mindfulness links.
Things will get better I’m sure you just need to stick in there during this start up process keep us posted we are here for you.
Hibee
This has been my experience with treating anxiety. Meds (citalopram for 11 years), CBT, and Self-Care all combine for a good result.
