I am so sick of all of this fear mongering the media is doing. My anxiety and depression cannot keep dealing with this. I know it is deadly and we have the right to know, but so many mixed messages and lies to work through. Do these folks know what they are doing to people? Do they care? I had to delete my social media pages, I had to unfollow lots of people on youtube and while I love those channels, I can not hear anymore. Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

I'm someone who has to keep-up on world affairs, but I'm not always thrilled about it. Getting off social media has helped substantially, but you're right that there is a lot of preying on people's fears presently. It might sound corny, but sometimes I find it helpful to dig deeper into articles and stories about what people are doing in face of danger and catastrophe. Even when the things going on are frightening, I can take comfort that many people are still trying to ease suffering and looking for the truth of matters.

I don’t bother with social media. Too much nonsense; it’s not worth my time. I read credible newspapers. I might not like everything I read and I might not agree with every opinion expressed, but it keeps me apprised of what’s going on in the world and helps me look at issues from different perspectives. I try to keep in mind that people are entitled to their opinions, even if I disagree with them. None of us has a monopoly on wisdom.

That is true. I deleted my only social media which was Facebook. I do check up on things but I really trust no one source. You are right, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that and no one has monopoly on wisdom either. I just worry for our mental health now and in future is all.

@Coffiend I do the same thing. I go deeper and to many sources to get my information. I keep up but I do not HAVE to know, it is more I want to know what is happening with the world but only to a point. I do not care about "celebrities" never really have. I care about the more important things like covi, Afghanistan, Isreal, things of that nature. I also want to know to a point and then it has to go away so I can mentally rest. I just hate the fear mongering and lies is all.

I too feel social media can cause a lot of anxiety in our lives. it is better to take breaks when using them, sometimes can cause addiction while sometimes becomes a waste of time and energy. Drop your focus on social media and develop reading habits that can keep you updated also cannot judge you.

I do read a lot actually and I love they do not judge. You are so right. I just had to delete my Facebook, it is just better off for me.

yes! it has caused a lot of problems for me. It was honestly the perfect storm to knock me back into a lot of anxiety and especially health-related. I have tried to delete everything but go right back and this is also what caused a lot of delay and anxiety in getting the vaccine. As my husband said, I watched too much negative that my mind has created a fantasy of all the bad that can happen. its so hard!

No regulations, info stolen, used against you, no privacy, they all steal and sell.
Keyboard hate and people taking their lives BECAUSE OF HATE, AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY EMPLOYED TO HATE ON PEOPLE. oops caps, soz.
apologies if triggers but it is so relevant.
Social media has taken the ability of having a face to face chat, harder with covid but you get my jist.
Good and bad on these forums, too much bad for this happy turtle. HT
