I'm glad you made sure it was safe to take Cymbalta with Xanax.
I took hydroxaine a few times and I've written "no sleep" on the bottle which I don't use anymore.
You say you took Xanax to "stop the shakes and tremors getting used to 30mg of cymbalta. (net says for depression and anxiety) (Short term of course)."
You said, "I just happened to have the xanax cause used to use to help me sleep. She changed to restoril so I tossed xanax in cabinet."
So, for the shakes and tremors of getting used to 30mg Cymbalta, you took Xanax.
So, now you take Restoril, which webmd.com says:
"This medication (Restoril) is used to treat a certain sleep problem (insomnia). It may help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and lessen how often you wake up during the night, so you can get a better night's rest. Temazepam (Restoril) belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect.Use of this medication is usually limited to short treatment periods of 1 to 2 weeks or less. If your insomnia continues for a longer time, talk to your doctor to see if you need other treatment."
So you're taking Restoril for sleep and shakes and tremors while you get use to Cymbalta.
What I take for sleep, after I've had my Lithium (mania stopper) and Mirtazapine (antidepressant) for my bipolar, both of which help with sleep, is Melatonin which is a natural health food that can be bought at the drug, grocery or health food store or the net.
I take 5, 1 mg tablets of Melatonin 30 minutes before bedtime. Of course, without my regular meds, Melatonin is not putting me to sleep. But it is a good sleep aid for me and others. I've heard of others taking more or less than 5 mg.
Some people take it an hour or more before bedtime to get sleepy.
I also use a heating pad on low which is like a teddy bear to help me sleep. It also makes the heart work less hard for it expands the blood vessels. I also use a small towel between me and the heating pad because even on low it can get too hot for me.
If 3 or 4 hours later, I wake up and can't go back to sleep, I get up and take another 1 mg. Melatonin. I can use a nightlight.
