Freaking out after seeing doctor. Not sure how to calm myself down.

I had my appendix removed a week ago and everything went well and just had a post-op appt. with the surgeon. She said because I'm 50 and had appendicitis I need to get a colonoscopy. She said at my age one of the cause of appendicitis could be a tumor in the colon. She said it is not in most cases but it's good to get checked.

I immediately booked a consultation with a gastroenterologist in 3 weeks. Meanwhile, I'm freaking the hell out! A few months ago, I had a blood stool test that came back negative.

I'm not sure what to do to calm my nerves down till my appt.

Take a deep breath, in all of my years I have never heard of appendicitis & colon cancer being related. I actually know some people that had colon cancer & their appendix were not involved.

Getting a scope done at 50 is what drs recommend now a days. Good luck & I bet you have a clean scope!!!

Thank you both. I really appreciate the volunteers on these boards. It means a lot to have an outlet to vent out and get reassurance.

Since I had my appendectomy two weeks ago it's been mentally and physically draining. It's been hard not to get anxious trying to deal with all these post-surgery weird symptoms and bad acid reflux.

The good thing is that the Protonix PPI med is starting to work and the acid reflux is slowly getting better. The one thing now that has me worried are bowel movements being normal but greenish after surgery. My PCP said it will take time for everything to get back to normal if not go see a GI doctor.

I already made an appt. for a GI in 3 weeks.

Yeah, 50 i am due. My bro having his, both ends next week.
Too many procedures for me, will be just another.
